Hi moms,

I am a single mother of 4 and it is about that time of year again - Holidays are around the corner - I always see on the news about different places that help families with Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas items - If anyone has any info that would be helpful PLEASE let me know how I would go about getting assistance with the Holidays? Also my children have changed schools and their previous school did not send home their school supplies do you know who helps with donations? Thank You for all the Great advice and suggestions I receive from all you awsome mothers out there!

What can I do next?

If you live in Grandview. The Grandview Assistance Program (GAP) can help with food, bills, presents, etc... The company I work for does a lot of fund drives to support the program. You might also check with the United Way. They can put you in contact with groups they help fund in your area. Hope this helps.

Hi V.! Salvation Army has assistance at Christmas. I work in social services so the start date I have for them to start accepting applications is: 10/23. Call ###-###-#### for more information. You can also contact the Fox 4 Love Fund, they help with school uniforms and may help with school supplies as well, ###-###-####. You could also try Mid America Assistance Coaltion (MAAC)/Unite Way ###-###-####. Good luck! I know times can be tough at this time of the year or any time of the year for that matter!!

Contact the Salvation Army, SRS or DFS (it depends where you live) and local churches. If you are still in need contact me directly (in November), and I will see what other resources that I can find for your family.

Great Place for holiday help. Call and ask how to get on the list. Check with any social work help you receive, if you do. Such as Food Stamps, ADC, WIC and so forth. They usually get lists prepared ahead of time for the individuals needing holiday help.

As for school supplies.....try Lee's Summit Social Services, 108 SE 4th Street, ###-###-####. If they do not have any then they may have a suggestion who would.

For holiday help and school supplies....find a church family and let them know of your needs. Churches are very good for help, support, faith, love, resource directory and a break once in a while for the mom in need.

I hope I have helped. Lilly :)

There are many places. Salvation Army is the biggest one. All the local radio stations help as well. I would get in contact with the Salvation Army though. I adopted a family from them last year. All information is kept private. It was sponsored by 102.1.

Good Luck!

Johnny Dare does alot for people during the holidays. You can send them a letter or email them. Alot of people talk bad about him but he helps alot of people. He's done Biker's for Babies & gets other organizations going to help.

You may want to call KUDL radio station and ask. For the last 6 years I have assisted families through their Adopt A Family program.
