Help! Smoker's Mouth or What Looks like It!

I am NOT a smoker, but look like I am because I have "those lines" around the top of my lips. I can't stand it because my lipliner bleeds and it drives me nuts! I have thought about having Juvederm or Restylane injected. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Without a doubt, RE9 from Arbonne. You will be shocked at what a difference this makes. I'm only 29 and when I started using it two months ago people even notice on ME!! After my family saw my skin this Christmas, they are all using it, too! I have a sample if you want to try it! Don't do anything invasive or expensive, you can fix it without all that!!

Clinque has a product called All About Lips that works great on filling in lines. It also helps whatever you wear to stay longer.

You could be dehydrated, and your skin can be too. Try drinking more water and using an intense moisturizer at night and a light moisturizer in the day time.

If you don't have a moisturizer you love, let me know, I sell BeautiControl on the side and there are some great moisturizes available.

Have you tried using a lip primer? It's applied to the lips before the lip color, and it keeps the color from bleeding into the lines around the mouth. I use one and it works very well. The one I use is Mary Kay, but I'm sure you can find others where ever cosmetics are sold.

I use to work for Estee Lauder and I can tell you that anyone can get those lines. The reason people associate them with smoking is because they get them more than anyone else. All you have to do to get those lines is do a repeatative movement like you would if you put a cigarette in your mouth.

For instance, whistling and drinking out of straws make your lips move in that same form. I would try a cheaper and less invasive form of treatment before going to the extreme of injections.

First find out what it is that you are doing that to make that particular shape with your mouth and either elimate that habit or try to change the shape of your mouth when you do it.

The next thing I would recommend is Estee Lauder Perfectionist Correcting Concentrate for Lip Lines. Its only $35.00/ This is a thick serum/creme that you put around the outside of your lips (where those lovely lines are) morning and night. It does have the benefit of keeping your lip products from bleeding, but its purpose is to soften the look of those lines. Note: if you do decide to buy this you will have to get the tube started by turning it about 15-20 clockwise turns before the product is up to the top and ready for use. You can ask the EL consultant to help you with that if you don't want to do it yourself.

Please not this is a treatment product not a cosmetic product. So over usinging won't help you. Use as recommended and you will get results.

FROM THEIR WEBSITE: WWW.ESTEELAUDER.COM

INSTANTLY
The results of a clinical test prove you'll see up to a 50% reduction in the look of deep, vertical lines.

My face tends to do this as well. I notice it mainly when I do not drink enough water. I make a conscious effort to drink at least 6 (Ozarka or Deja Blue) bottles a day. As for moisturizer, I use Clinique Repairwear Series. There is one for the Day w/ sunscreen and one for the night. Repairwear also has some heavier cremes if you need that as well.

I've used Clinique since I was 12 and I am 46 now. I am told I look easily early 30's. My daughter is 13 and she uses Clinique regularly as well.

I like the idea of vitamin E oil. I have never thought about that. I have some of that oil I used for a hysterectomy scar and you can hardly see my scar anymore. It must work wonders. I will use it on my lips now. I keep regular chapstick in every room of my house so I always have a tube handy.

Look up a company on line called BeautiControl. They are a cosmetics company and sell a product called Lip Control. It comes in a little tube and you put it on your lips FIRST, then lip liner, then dust with powder, then your lipstick. The Lip Control will help, or stop, the bleeding of the lipliner and lipstick, the powder will help "set" your lipliner and lipstick and stay on longer.

BeautiControl also has a product called LipAppeal. This is a two-process product. The first process is an exfoliator that is kindof pasty. You rub it all over your lips and outer edges (where your lines are)and it takes away dead skin you cannot see, which smoothes out the skin. Then it has a lip balm that you put on afterwards. This works to smooth everything out, which would also help with the bleeding of your products. You would use LipAppeal at night, then your lips would be beautiful for the Lip Control in the morning. They also sell the lip balm separetly. My husband puts it on every morning before work, and can tell if anyone else has been in it. He doesn't like to share.

Good Luck!

I work for a Plastic Surgeon in Dallas and we see patients for this all the time, my Doctor has tried all the fillers on the market and the best by far for this problem is Juvaderm. Restylane used to be the only hyleronic acid filler available but Juvaderm is the second generation and much smoother and more effective for the lip area.

I love Arbonne's REversing Gelee Transforming Lift. It really tightens the areas of your face (and neck) that need tightening. I had a problem with saggy eyes and lines around my lips/chin. I've been using the entire RE9 face system and it looks like I've gotten a face lift (since September). I also put some of the REpair Corrective Eye Creme around my lips and that's helped a ton!!

Check out my store... http://amychichester.myarbonne.com/

Hi. Mary Kay sells a really good age-fighting lip primer that you put on before your liner and lipstick. It prevents listick from bleeding. It works really well. It's $22.00, much cheaper than any treatment. If you have a Mary Kay lady you might want to ask her about it. I sell Mary Kay if you don't. www.marykay.com/heppenstall

My lips stay dry and parched because I have terrible seasonal allergies and take medication to help with that. My dental hygienist gave me this tip and it is very helpful; though it's not Restylane... Get vitamin E oil and apply it to your lips at least once a day; twice a day if you can. I have started using it as a light lip gloss in lieu of lipstick - if my lips are parched the lipstick will not go on right, anyway. good luck

I recommend permanent make-up. That way you will not have lipliner running away from the outer edge of your lips. I had my eyeliner done by a lady in Dallas named Renee Ryan. You can look up her number by using the name of her school, 'Lasting Lines'. You can give her a call to find out more about the process. She has about 20 yrs experience, and does an excellent job!!!

I have been using it day and night for about 2 months and I have seen the difference. It's about $20.00 and you can get it at the major department stores, I believe Walgreens or for sure online.

Restylane and Juvederm are fillers, usually used in the nasolabial folds and in the actual lips to plump. I would suggest using Sculptra, which can be used above the upper lip line to fill in the fine lines. Sculptra is a semi-permanent product which usually requires a series of injections (2-3) to build up collagen and can be used all over the face, not the forehead area. It's a great product. I have used it and the results are awesome! Dr. Robert L. Clement @ Austin Plastic Surgery Institute is the best injector!

I am a director with Mary Kay Costmetics and I teach skin care and cosmetics. I have found that our Microderm Abrasion and our anti-aging lip primer help TREMENDOUSLY with the lines and with the lipstick bleeding. Check out my website at www.marykay.com/stacycampbell. There is a 100% guarantee, so if you don't see the results you desire, you can exchange the product or get your money back. Also, look at the Time Wise Miracle Set. It's a skin care system that not only fights aging, but also repairs damage to your skin.
