Lipstick Recommendation Needed

. Does anyone know of a good lipstick that does NOT dry out the lips, but also has good staying power? I am not sure if I suddenly have ultra dry lips of if the lipsticks & glosses I have been using are doing this to me. I have lip glosses from Bath & Body Works and I have tried most of the Cover Girl & Lorele long staying lipsticks. I feel like if I wear the lipstick over the weekend, my lips are soooooooooooo dry for the next week. I don't even wear lipstick to work anymore because of the chapping.

Do you know of any good lip products that not only stay on, but have something to keep the lips moisturized? I don't care about spending a little more if I can get a good product.

Thanks!

I personally use the cover girl long lasting lip stick but instead of using the gloss that comes with is I use carmex. I also use carmex before I go to sleep at night when my lips are really bad, it has meds in it to help dry champed and sore lips.

clinique or lancomb. go to the mall closest to you and have them give you a free makeover-tell them what you are looking for. Look for the bonus time --so you get the bag of goodies (usually 1-2 full size lipsticks in there ). you wont regret the extra $. BIG difference in quality.

I use a berts bees chapstick, and I drink a lot of water for chapping.

good luck!

For me, I prefer to use lip stains as it doesn't affect the lip tissue like lip sticks do. One reason your lips are drying out (or the skin on the body) is due to the ingredients in the products used.

The biggest culprits are: Mineral Oil, Lanolin, Grapeseed and Patroleum (or think of the Vaseline Jelly). These just sit on your skin and blocks the pores. They are the worse for your skin. A few of these ingredients are actually harmful to the skin (more women are experiencing lip issues with the dermatologist due to sun exposure and a few other issues from the products.) These oils also dry out the skin on your body just as much - even with frequent applications.

For myself, I either make a lip balm to go over the stain, make my own stain, or go into the health food store to purchase a quality product that does not contain the above ingredients. When I make the balm myself, it actually works better than anything I have purchased in the stores and I love customizing it to what I need or my son needs. (My son and I are looking forward to making my next batch as I am including Pumpkin oil in it!)

You can easily find a recipe for a regular home-made 'lip' balm online or in a book at the bookstore/ library. It's rather inexpensive to make and it's versatile enough to use on cuticles and other dry skin areas. You only need a few basic ingredients. :)

Otherwise - get ready for a bombardment of websites / email addresses coming your way from those selling products. (I personally don't care for those in a response unless it is asked for directly.)

Chances are that your lips are becoming dry from the long wearing lipsticks. Finding a long wearing lipstick that will moisturize your lips is going to be quite a challenge. Most long wearing lipstick have the side effect of drying out your lips. My suggestion would be to switch to a premium brand of lipstick, suck as Mary Kay or dept store brands (Kohls, Younkers for example) not the brands you get at Walmart, Walgreens etc. Those are mass brands. The premium brand lipsticks probably won't be labeled "long wearing" but will last longer than usual and moisturize your lips. I can not tell you a ton about other premium brands, but as a Mary Kay consultant, I can say that MK does have better staying power & moisturize your lips. We also carry a Lip Primer that helps keep your lipstick on for most of the day and has age-fighting benefits also to help reduce lines and wrinkles around & on your lips. MK also has a 100% guarantee, if you don't like it you don't have to keep it. You can exchange it for something else or get a full refund.

I, too, have very dry lips. I use the cover girl kind that stays on all day, but I don't use the clear stuff they give with it. I use carmex over it and apply it several times a day. You have to use just a light coating of the CG color, though. If you put it on heavy, it will dry your lips. I also think Arbonne has great lipsticks. I don't care for their glosses or plumping glosses, but their regular lipsticks are very moisturizing and stay on for a long time. It wears nicely.

I would recommend avon. Here is my order page if you would like to order something. http://youravon.com/sdrong Avon has a new lipstick out that has a moisturizing stick in the middle, and it's great. I have the same problem you do. I have used it without a problem. What I normally use is avon's lip moisture, and then i put on the avon glazewear. i like that the glazewear line, is a bit on the shiny side.

Avon also sells colored chapsticks, so you can use the chapstick and it will tint your lips not a lot, but will give them some color along with the moisture your lips need. if you want more info, please let me know.

I can give you free shipping if you want to try it out. The code for free shipping is FSWER

I like Bobbi Brown lip products.
My favorite lip gloss is by Bare Minerals, the people who make the mineral face powder. It has a peppermint/vanilla smell to it and tingles slightly (like Burts bees balm) when it is applied. The color stays on pretty well and it is very moisturizing. My favorite color is "Dolly". This is not a grocery store product, you can get it at Sephora. It about $15, but is worth it to me. Ask for a sample.

My lips are quite dry during the winter. The best lipsticks for me have been Mary Kay and Smashbox. The Smashbox lipsticks can be a little pricey at $22 each, but I've found them on ebay for as little as $6. Can't beat that -- it makes them cheaper than drug store brands!

I use Burt's Bees mostly and some Bath & Body Works. None stay on long but they don't dry me out so I've decided that's more important. I also put Aquaphor on my lips at night and if they're really bad & I'm home, I use it during the day too. It's great stuff for healing chapping.

This is so funny to me that 2 or 3 other people do the exact same thing as me with lipstick..... That is - Use Cover Girl Outlast, but throw away the tube that is the clear sealer. The others said they put Carmex over it, but I love the Blistex Daily Conditioning Treatment (DCT) that comes in a beige tin (same kind of tine that carmex comes in). One tip - after you put the covergirl lipstick on (I love the wine colored one #880), put the Blistex (or Carmex) on about 30 seconds after - if you do it immediately you won't have much color - if you wait more than 30 seconds, your lips will be too dry.

Hi M., I have a great product for your dry lips. Mary Kay has the solution. Exfoliate lips 1 to 3 times a week and keep them moisturized at least 6 hours with the Satin Lips Set. Apply your choice of 6 colors in the Tinted Lip Balm-A botanical-enriched formula that's three products in one-moisturizer lip color and lip protector.
Go to my website, www.marykay.com/k.m.henderson and check it out. I'd love to help out anyway I can. K.

M.,
Arbonne has wonderful lipstick. All of the products are made with only natural herbs and botanicals and they DO NOT contain Lead and they don't dry out your lips they moisturize really well. They also have a great Lip Protect and Herbal Lip Remedy for those that suffer from chapped lips that don't wear lipstick. Please contact me in a private response/message and I will give you the web site address so you can see the prices, colors and even order there if you would like.

I hear you on the drying out of the lips. The lipsticks that are meant to stay on for awhile usually do dry out the lips.

The lipsticks I wear and love are from the Minerelles line. You can view them on my website at http://mamabear.myshaklee.com/us/en/category.php?main_cat...

An added plus is if you don't like the lipsticks for whatever reason (ie color), there is a money back guarantee.
I ensure that people are satisfied with their product.

Enjoy your day!

M.,

I am a Mary Kay Sales Director and our lipsticks are actually moisturizing and are very good for the lips. The long staying lipsticks that you mention that you have tried actually have alcohol in them and that is why they can claim to stay on so long but also that is why your lips are drying up. I would be glad to either get with you to try some of our lipsticks or I would be happy to send you some samples. My email is ____@____.com and my website is www.marykay.com/djkiser. Aquafor made by Eucerine on your lips every night before you go to bed is the best. It's like vaseline, only better. Plus I use it on my nails when the cuticals or skin gets super dry. My derm. recommended this when my lips got so dry and nothing was working, not even neosporin.
I love MAC lipstick. It's not cheep (like $15 a tube) but it's awesome!

I happened to come upon something purely by chance. I picked up some Nivea Kiss of Flavor tinted lip balm when it was free after rebate at the drug store and it is now my lip color of choice! I think they only have two colors but it gives your lips a pink tint and it is very moisturizing. I wear it all the time, except for special occasions where I may need a little something extra.

Here is a link - http://www.niveausa.com/products/show/A%20Kiss%20of%20Fla... - I used to struggle with dry lips and now I never have a problem with them being chapped unless I'm sick.

Hi M.,
You sound like me a few years ago.... I was in desperate need of something for my lips that would stay there and keep them moist.
I found an AVON representative and found the solution.
I loved all the products soooooo much that I decided to become an AVON Rep. myself. here is my direct AVON website
www.youravon.com/ctranchida check it out and see what you can find. There are some AWESOME lipsticks and lip gloss products. Besides alot of other things, foundations, eyeshadow, face creams (I LOVE the ANEW line and wrinkle corector). The really great thing about it is if you don't like the color of product or even just the prodaut it self you can return it.
I live in Milford and have many samples if you see a color that you would like to try let me know and I can get it to you. If you want to order something but not on line, also let me know - my next order is placed on Thursday the 6th of November.
Please give this a try, you won't find anything like these products and they are EXTREMELY reasonable.
Thank you, Cindy

I have not worn lipstick since I learned how it was made. I finally found Burt's Bees. I love it! First, they come in all different shades, second, there is actually color just like in lipstick, and third, it has that tingly minty sting/smell to it so your lips don't dry out. It's like a cross between lipstick and chapstick and they're only 4 bux a piece!

Morning...to me Carmex is the BEST for chapped lips you can buy it at any drug store...I use it all winter and nothing bothers my lips anymore. Just put it on before you go to sleep at night and then if you need it during the day. Also I use Mac lipstick. I dont use gloss very often and if I do it goes over lipstick. The lipstick is around 11-15.00 a little pricey compared to loreal which is around 8-10.00 but it is worth the extra money. The lipstick is great:) Good luck.
