Help Needed for 4 1/2 Yr. Old Daughter Who Is Pottytrained but Pees on Floor.

i agree with some of the other posters points.

first is she taking her pants off or is she just playing and having an accident? did she ever have accidents or did she have to be reminded about going? if she is just having accidents, i would think it may be a UTI or bladder infection, among other medical possibilities.

if she is taking her pants off and peeing, i would take it seriously. and look into when this started, were there any changes? any changes in her personality? it may be for attention, yes. but it also may be something more serious going on and she is trying to get you to help me. im not saying anything is going on, but you would never forgive yourself if she was reaching out and you werent there for her. i would not punish at all at this point. its not a normal thing for kids, esp girls to do, so i would look for a cause.

either way, i would def take her to a doctor asap.

I raised two girls in a married setting,if she is uncomfortable with letting a man take her to the bathroom or knowing anything about such a private momentshe may resort to doing odd things like that. A girl also sends you messages through actions. Depending on your response she may do well with a heart to heart she's not too young to have strong feelings about you care giver arrangement.

By peeing on the floor, do you mean she's wetting her pants, or she's taking them off to urinate on the floor? If she's wetting her pants, I'd have her evaluated for a UTI, you don't want to get mad over a medical problem. However, if that's not it, then she's simply being defiant and I would punish for it, just like you would punish for any other rulebreaking. Peeing the pants to get attention may be acceptable when you're under 3 years old and potty training, but when the child is 4 1/2 and past the potty stage, it's just bad behavior.

My daughter was doing the same...having accidents that is. It was for attention even though she gets a lot of it!!! AT first I was understanding then got a little angry...I didnt yell but let her know this is unacceptable! And it stopped!!

Have you seen her doctor to make sure she doesn't have a bladder infection? Before you assume it's behavioral, be sure your little girl isn't sick.
