In the phone book there should be numbers for social services. There is a specific department for housing. They will steer you in the right direction of how to apply. It seems to me each county has their own nuances. Do your best to be patient and not take anything personally. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people in need, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you getting the help that you need in a timely manner!

Hi T.,
I'm sorry you're struggling with housing issues. There are resources and agencies that can help. If you are in Santa Clara county, project sentinel may be a recourse. Check out their site at http://www.housing.org/bay_area_tenant_landlord_service_a...

http://www.hacsc.org/
Or this site, the Housing Authority to learn your rights.

Good luck, I hope you're able to find affordable housing.
Sincerely, L.

Contact contra costa housing dept

It looks like the wait list will open in early Nov. From my understanding, it is a lengthy process if you end up on a wait list.

Wish you the best of luck - I will keep my fingers crossed that it works out for you!!

Hi T.,

I haven't been thorough it myself, but I would think if you call your local health department(like medi-cal,etc), they would be able to point you in the right direction or give you the phone number. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Good luck~
