Lana Warlick in Jacksonville is wonderful. I used one of her associates and she was very knowledgeable and tough. She helped me with my divorce and custody of my daughter.

It just so happened I was researching something for a friend and came across this website. http://www.lawyers.com/Divorce/browse-by-location.html You can put in the state you live in and then it will give you different cities. You can then go onto each law firm and review the lawyers bio's. I think it will really help you. You can see if your husband might have a connection with any of them. Word of mouth is best as that was how my girlfriend found her attorney --- through a friend you went through a divorce. She could see how the attorney handled it and how well the client/friend did in the decision. I would also suggest getting a strong, female, butt-kickin' attorney. Women usually have little tolerance for the games men play! My sister-in-law had one as well and she has done well over the years when she has had to take her idiot ex back to court for lack of payment for college and high school. Men think they can walk away and not be touched. WRONG! Good luck with this as it is NEVER easy going through this.

Call your local domestic violence shelter and ask them for the names of the three best divorce attorneys in town. Ask to speak to their legal advocate if they have one. They work with women who are divorcing every day. They will know who is the best.

You can try Raven Rassette out of Cary, Gerald Hayes out of Dunn (His daughter actually handles divorces & I've been told she's a bulldog when it comes to issues of divorce or custody) or Jessie Jones out of Lillington.

I recently heard of an attorney by the name of Schlotsky (as in the snadwich place). He came with a great recommendation for the mom's side.

I also heard of L. Angel.

A friend of mine went to L. and wasn't very helpful with HER particular case. But the consult was free and she told it to her straight. (the same friend used someone differnt - wish I knew - and she was %$#@. And now I am goign to recommend her to Scholt.)
