Having a Lot of Problems with ATT U-verse; Is This Normal?

ATT just came out yesterday to install U-verse. After they left we've had nothing but problems. I box doesn't deliver HD but the worse problem is that about every 20 minute the system freezes. No television or internet for about another 20 minutes. Then we found out that we can not view HD Tv on more than 2 televisions and they sold us 3 HD receivers....Last but not least if we cancel in 30 days they will not come out and reconnect the old service ..we'd have to them out and pay them to reconnect everything..kinda sounds like apart of their of their selling ploy...Is this just us or has anyone else rec'd the same treatment??

What can I do next?

We've had AT&T U-Verse for several months and have had numerous problems. It is is diffucult to fit a service call into my schedule so we have just kept the service. It freezes often. The phone ringing seems to cause problems even though we have purchased new phones that are 6.0 or higher.
I'd ask them to come back and check the receiver. Also, the internet service isn't as fast as what we had with with DSL.
AT&T U-Verse is a big disappointment!

We love U-verse. We had problems initially getting it installed and getting all the receivers to work properly, but the guys who worked on it spent their entire weekend here and would not leave until we were up and running smoothly. A week later, we had a problem with a receiver, and they sent someone out immediately with a new one. I believe the problems stemmed from being one of the first in our area to get U-verse. It's been over a year and we've had no more problems.

We had it and loved it, but due to unrelated circumstances switched to Time Warner and have had 6 services call in the 30 days we've had it- only having service working for about 10 days in and out. WE are going straight back to U Verse where we can get same or next day service when we have trouble (if we have any) and polite people answer the phones.

We have U-Verse and they do have wonderful customer service. I like it, but the VOD and DVR do freeze sometimes. It sometimes seems like it takes forever for VOD to play and I feel like I have to push the button forever. I would definitely call them and talk to them because I haven't had any bad experiences when talking to them. But, of course, as they grow and get more customers, they start caring less about each one...

I have U-verse and love it. No problems at all. I would definitely let them know about the problems. Maybe you had a new installation guy? Good luck.

Hi E.,

I do not have U-verse but have a co-worker that has had nothing but problems too. She just had it installed a few weeks ago but is already ready to go back to cable.

We have had for 6 months. We have had outages 4 times. Today we called and said they would be here between 12 and 4pm. At 3:50 they called and said they would be late. He arrived at 4:30 and left at 6 before checking all boxes. He told my husband to unplug all boxes and they would work. By the time we reset the boxes he was gone. So I had to call customer service and they have to send someone out again between 8 and noon tomorrow to fix the line and box that the other tech did not fix. This is crappy service if you ask me.

We've had the same problem. We've had AT&T for about 4 years. Within the last 3 months its all went down hill. Our tv constantly freezes and our internet goes in and out. We've had 7 different techs come to our home in the last 2 months. Our bill has random charges on it every other month. One month it went from the normal $140 to $170 we did nothing different. When we called the said it was due to a price increase on their internet. And if we want out of the contract we have to pay a butt load to get out of it.

I have had Uverse for five months and have problems with my tv freezing and my computer working like it's connected to dial up. These problems don't happen every 20 minutes but it happens enough that AT&T practically lives at my house now. They've changed the modem, cable connected to the modem, splitter to the cable, both dvr boxes (twice) and now they're working on the outside. When they first checked the outside box their computer showed I was having thousands of errors but scattered every couple of hours. Now they're going to look at the copper cables leading from my house to the main box (yes, fiber optic only goes to their main boxes. too expensive to run fiber optic to everyone's house). Then they'll check the ports. It's a process of elimination now. Their customer service is outstanding and that's why I'm as patient as I am. I loved Directv but hated those dreaded clouds here in FL where I would worry if I was going to lose my signal or not. Uverse is really new in my area so I'm going to give it a try and let them try and fix this problem. Why can't AT&T have a standard fix for the freezing up issue and why is it an issue in the first place?

I switched to Uverse after a salesperson came and offered me a special. To bundle my service, I would save $30 a month, get a $100 gift card "immediately" and get another $200 gift card in 4 weeks because we did not want any premium movie channels. I made it clear that I had to keep my home phone number. To make a long story short, I had to request my home phone number 4 separate times before they actually ordered it. Three weeks after my system was installed, the number still wasn't working. No one could tell me why, customer service was rude and hateful to me, and it took several attempts before I found a person who would help me fix the problem. Now I can't get my voice mail set up, the online registration won't recognize my information, and I am at my wits end. I have also found out that I can't even request my gift cards until I've been a customer for 45 days. I got the information cards in the mail to request them online but an account number is necessary. When I called to request the account number, I was told they can not give me that and I have to just wait. I have been lied to every step of the way, have spent hours on the phone, sometimes in tears, and they do not seem to care. I regret switching! Oh, and every single day at some point the screen goes blue and tells me to press "ok" if I want to continue watching. Wouldn't I turn it off if I didn't want to watch anymore? Do not switch to Uverse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
