Hi Moms,

I have a friend who is a distributor of MonaVie and she says that they carry a children's line. It's supposed to really be beneficial for children b/c not all children have the greatest diets, including mine. Have any of you moms given MonaVie to your own children? For how long and how much did you give?

What can I do next?

my kids didn't like it. i give them juice plus gummies - they ROCK! monavie also has preservatives in it and when mixed with vitamin C, causes a carncinogen - very dangerous! They wouldn't reply when asked what the science is behind the product. There is none - buyer beware! THey are also claiming that it cures cancer - a big no no!

i would NOT recommend it. we don't like the taste either.

There are several superior products on the market that have the SCIENCE behind it to back it up! Univera has excellent products and i would highly recommend them - my friend Sherry is a distributor. I also have several naturopathic friends - so if you like more info. let me know.

we use juice plus, some univera and also the healthy chocolate products - they are wonderful and all of them have the medical support behind them and research availalble to the public.

Hi Z.,

Yes, I gave my 4 year old Monavie and he had diarrhea for 2 days. I only gave him a little bit to see how he reacted to it. I think the prodcut is great and would be very beneficial for kids. I want to try it again but I feel bad if he gets diarrhea again. I know it's supposed to clean your system out.

It is great that you are asking questions about products before giving them to your children or taking them yourself! One thing I have learned over the past several years, as I have immersed myself in nutrition education, is that we really have to research products before spending our money on them. One thing that is very important when doing this is to make sure that the product has peer-reviewed medical research (not just testimonials) proving that it benefits your health in some way. I have looked at MonaVie & I cannot find any sound medical research on their website; it is expensive; & there are two preservatives in MonaVie (one of the preservatives, Sodium Benzoate is linked with fetal damage, hyperactivity, cancer, asthma, and urticaria). The last bit of information was given to me by a Certified Nutritionist. I have listened to many CNs, RNs, & MDs (holistic & traditional) & they are all saying that the BEST way for us to get the vitamins & minerals we need every day is by eating a diet rich in RAW WHOLE FOOD (fruits, veggies & grains). In order to prevent disease we should be getting 9-13 servings a day - which most of us don't do. In my quest for better nutrition in my own family, I came across a product that helps me "bridge the gap" between what we eat & what we need, is not expensive & has been published in 13 peer-reviewed medical journals (such as the American Journal of Cardiology). It is a whole food concentrate that contains 15 vine-ripened, raw, fresh fruits & veggies in capsules, chewables & gummies. Check it out at: www.juiceplus.com/+sc57599.
