Have Any of You Done This or Is It Just Weird

So I am trying to help people get started couponing in my community. I have put out an add online for it and was thinking about maybe making some flyers and putting them on peoples doors. It kinda seems weird to me to just go door to door putting flyers. I always feel creepy stalker like. lol idk maybe it's just me. I was wondering if anyone has ever gone house to house putting flyers on doors? Did you feel like a stalker or weird doing it? I live on a military base so there are lots of houses but I would just do the ones closest to me.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

This is not for a business. I don't charge for the meetings. I am simply just trying to help other military families save money. It would just be a flyer stating My name, address, date, time, and what it is about. We don't have actual mail boxes here they are in big blocks and locked up. I know there have been people who come around with flyers about their missing dogs and stuff but to me I just feel weird. idk I guess if it will benifit people in the long run it wouldn't be soooo bad.

I have no problem with flyers. As long as you don't ring my doorbell and expect me to drop what I'm doing to hear a sales pitch!

I have never done that before, but really think possitive about this. I dont mean getting silly flyers ever day, but offers here n there are quite good.

We get stuff put in our door all the time...don't feel weird.

You know what they say (I'm assuming this is a business) "You can't hit the ball if you don't swing the bat."

Do it when you know they are gone, if you can. I wouldn't feel weird putting something in someone's mailbox. They can get it when they feel the need, and they can read it or not. I would feel weird knocking on the door to give it to them. So, could you do mailboxes instead?

Go down to MWR & the Wive's Club. Since it's a social club and not a business venture, you'll get a lot more traction. If the Commissary has a message board, post a flyer there. The daycare may let you as well.

I would probably just hang something at the commissary or at the mailboxes, but not IN the mailboxes.

I've done it before. I felt like a weird stalker but I did it anyway...LOL I also did it for brochures. I didn't like doing it but it helped me to promote my businesses. Once I got clients, I looked at this differently. It's easier to get clients who live really close to you also. Good luck! I like your idea also!!

I don;t, if I have my name and contact information on there.. I have a purpose for being there..

Also anytime I start an event or have a project.. I am so focused on making it a success, I am positive others will be as enthusiastic about it as I am..

I would be a bit annoyed if someone stuck something in my front door. I'd say you're better off hanging up flyers on your community bulletin board or putting an ad on Craigslist.

Why dont you give the flyer to friends and neighbors just a few homes from yours so you dont go far, and will probably know the people. If you have the flyer state what youre doing and offer cookies coffee and punch youll get more people. Ask them to each bring a friend if they can. It will open it up to people you dont know and can help expand the "client" base little by little. Id think if you ask 5 people, and they brought 3 or 4 friends, youd have a houseful. It might be neat to show them what youve learned and start swaping and sharing coupons and info. But if you just invite a few and ask them to bring a friend, and offer goodies,, you might have a fun time. Make sure the flyer makes it clear there is no fee, no purchase, no sales pitch. Just to see who wants to use coupons wisely and save money. Great way to gain more friends!

If you're on a military base isn't there some "common areas" that you can post it? Or hit up a playgroup? I would feel weird going door to door too.

I have heard of coupon sense where you have to pay a consultant to teach you how to coupon and / or you pay a monthly fee to actually do a coupon. Are you hoping to make a business out of it ? I guess I would not feel weird to get a flyer at my door..... avon does it :0)

Definitely not IN the mailboxes. Technically, it is against the law. In April, I passed out baby shower invites to my neighbors by putting them in their mailboxes. You'd think the postman would just smile and wish the mother-to-be good luck, but no. He collected them all, typed up an envelope and redelivered them all back to me the day before the shower.

normally I'd say the couponing idea is good but most people jsut don't have the time to add it to their already busy day. But being on a military base you are surrounded by families who live on tight budgets - so it probably would work better for you and the other families. How about on car windows or posting in a common area? as someone else suggested - ask a few friends to distribute to a few others...

Good luck and thank you from all of us for your family's service!

Use inbound marketing it is more efficient & effective, through social networks & free online advertising. Inbound marketing helps people who want what you have, find you... instead of you having to find them. Check out my different websites to help generate new ideas & contact me anytime, I will be happy to help you any way I can. If you do use out bound marketing may I suggest posting at Places like Central Market, & any place that offers a posting board.

Skip the mailbox idea. It's a federal offense to put anything in a mailbox that hasn't gone through the mail. A good law, if you think about the possibilities. A mailbox is considered protected property and is limited to mail with postage attached.

I hear you about feeling uncomfortable approaching people's doors, but it doesn't bother me when I find something left on my door or front steps.

I agree with going to a common area or a library, senior center or wherever and asking if you can do a couponing 'class'. I bet they will love the idea! ALso-I am considering bringing in a coupon expert for our PTO parents night so you may want to consider looking in that direction.

Can you post a flyer or two at the mailbox station??

I used to get a lot of mail stuck to my front door. I would read it, but often not take it seriously. I say get to know your neighbors, give them 10 flyers each and let them get the word out to their friends.

(What is 'couponing'?? Just clip coupons and share them?)
