So What Happened?

Hi Everyone:
I decided to buy a card from me ($3.99), a card from my son to grandma ($2.99) and a beautiful aluminum ballon ($2.99); Moreover, I decided to cook a 3 course meal: chicken breast, stuffing and fresh green beans w/almonds for all of us (total $15.00). I also purchased her a gift card of $25.00 to her favorite department store. Total spent $49.97. Not bad huh. Thank you all for your great advice!

B.,

Happy Birthday Weekend to you and Happy Mother's Day. I love the ideas that others have written. As a Mom of adult children, I appreciate spending time with them. Creating a memory day of looking at pictures and talking about "wonderful" memories could be fun and a good example to your son. Maybe you could start a scrabbook for your son together. Don't put pressure on yourself or spend a lot of money. The goal in life is to be happy. So give her a big hug and tell her that you love her - hugs are great gifts.

If you haven't already...............get out your baby books and look at them with her. Ask her about her days as a mom and how her life changed.........hopes.........dreams...........thoughts........and........what is it like to watch a person develop from a baby............and become a mother herself.
YOUR Birthday made it her MOM's day!
Happy Mothers Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't have to spend a lot. How about making a card with your son and giving it to her at breakfast? You could make her breakfast and serve it to her like in a restaurant. A bouquet of flowers for her can decorate the table. Then you can spend the day at the park or go for a walk together.

Its your birthday, but its mothers day for you both. How about dinner out? Anywhere.... it does not have to be expensive, but since you have to eat dinner (or lunch, which is cheaper) anyway, why not treat both of you?
I think you would both feel great! (of course, bring your son!) And happy Mother's Day!!

Hi B.,
I have the same situation only in reverse--it's my son's thirtieth birthday on Mother's Day. I know it was bothering him. He decided to celebrate his day on the 9th. But, I told him that he celebrates me throughout the year and that his is one of those milestone occassions and for him to enjoy it.
You can also celebrate you have been bless with a life that God chosed to come through her together. It's a double blessing deserving of a double celebration--ENJOY!!! How often does this happen?!!!!

HI B.,

My birthday is next weekend (5/17) and often gets 'blended in' with Mother's Day. Two of my favorite birthdays ever coinsided with the college graduations of my two sons!
You have been given some GREAT ideas here! Go to lunch/dinner and/or an outing that you all will enjoy.
It is not just your day nor hers. It is for both of you. The important thing is to just enjoy some special time together! Happy Mother's Day to BOTH of you and Happy Birthday to both of US!

Also, here is another option that could help the finaces in your mutual household. I have a terrific HOME-BASED BUSINESS that could help you immensely. Click on my links below for more information. I'd love to help you & your mother to improve your situations.

Bake a nice cake for your mom and some cupcakes and put a candle on one of them for your bday. Have your child make a card and you make one too. Nothing has to be fancy - I think homemade things are the best.

I think taking her out for breakfast (panera for bagels and coffee.. /tea) is an affordable treat or looking up a breakfast casserole recipe or french toast recipe or going and picking up bagels at panera or even dunkin donuts.. they have muffins and donuts..

with a few spreads if you can't go out.. pick it up saturday sometime but if you want to cook... .. (www.allrecipes.com) and making that for you guys.. anything personal that you do with help her feel special.

Happy Mother's day! It may be fun to do something everyone can enjoy. My family is going to a baseball game.

Start the day with something fun, such as the zoo or a museum. Enjoy a nice lunch together and if you have time run out for a quick pedicure. You both will enjoy the time together, a little fun, and some pampering on those tired feet at the end of the day.
Good Luck
