Half of Big Toe Is Curving ? Who to Consult ?

Hi !

This sounds weird but I noticed the last couple years one of my big toes was not straight anymore but told myself it was my imagination.... but now the top part (bony part from the bottom to top of the nail) is definitely curving towards the other toes ! The difference with the other big toe is stricking.

So who should I see ? Podologist? Podiatrist ? Somebody else ? Any recommendation ? I'm in Farmington but can go a farther is the doc is a good one !
Does anybody experienced such a thing, not the whole toe curving but just half of it ???

Thanks for your inputs !

Edit: I'm sure this toe was straight before ! I noticed 2 years ago it was slightly curving and last year I thought it was more noticeable but told myself it was nothing. This year I definitely see a difference and this toe is also larger than the other. Weird ! I should have taken pictures !
I'm never wearing tight/pointy shoes especially at the end that's why I'm surprised too !

What can I do next?

I have had great success with this podiatrist, Marie Nelson, D.P.M., on 12 Mile in Novi, just west of Novi Rd. Tel. # is ###-###-####. I don't have your problem, but I have been to many other podiatrists for a problem, and she is the only one that is taking the time to help me.

A question.... Are you wearing shoes that are too tight for your toes to wiggle in? This is a HUGE problem esp. with the pointy toe shoe craze.

I don't know of any docs in your area, but I do know that my sister had the same problem and when she changed her shoes it helped.

Good luck!

I would see an orthopedic surgeon. I recommend Dr. Fortson. He fixed my entire foot and it is doing well. I was over 50 when he did it so my toe is starting to do the same thing, but my foot does not hurt nor does my toe. Good luck. There is also a splint you could use first. Ask a doctor.

Both of my middle fingers curve to the right noticibly after the last bone/joint. They have been like this since birth... Is is possible your toe has always been this this and you just noticed?
