Had a LEEP Done Yesterday...

... but I'm feeling pretty good? Is this normal, or is this the calm before the storm! I feel kind of, swollen, I guess, but I'm not even really bleeding as much as they told me to expect, is this good or bad? Am I going to start passing clots or something? I'm almost concerned by how great I feel. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain... after I had my son I literally felt normal as soon as I got home (after my other 2 births, I felt like I got hit by a bus... twice.) Granted, the LEEP itself had me cursing and about to kick my doctor in the face, and I'm pretty sure the sweet little nurse who told me to hold her hand has some broken fingers... but today, the day after, I feel totally fine. I'm a 'bad patient' and tend to do too much too soon... should I still be taking it easy, or go with what my body is telling me and go about my normal day??

What can I do next?

I had a LEEP ~ 11 years ago. I felt normal afterwards too (just bloated). I was VERY careful to follow the weight lifting restrictions (I think it was no more than 20-30 pounds) because I wanted to make sure I healed properly. As hard as you have find it, do not push yourself and let your body heal :)

I've had it too and don't remember being too bad off afterwards. I'm sure you have nothing to be concerned with. Glad you're feeling well.

I only felt crampy the day of the procedure. But yes keep resting! And take extra folic acid, that was my naturopath's recommendation, and my dr said she had never seen someone heal so fast from the procedure!

I had a cold knife conization (which is sort of like a LEEP but you're under anesthesia at the hospital and they take a larger piece) and felt pretty good the first day and then kinda achy the next. The worst pain I had, the thing that made me achy, was the way they propped my legs up during surgery. It felt like I'd done a billion squats (okay, not a billion, but a lot). You should still take it easy, there is a reason they tell you not to do too much and it's NOT all just to cover their asses. For goodness sake, you have a doctor's note to hang around and do very little, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT.

I had the leep procedure done twice in '95 or so. For me,The procedure itself was very uncomfortable, the second time my doctor gave me valium. I remember feeling uncomfortable to moderate pain on the day of the procedure but back to normal the next day. I would suggest that you still take it easy even if you're feeling great. Although I think the risk for an infection is slim to none after this procedure, you'd increase that risk if you push yourself to get back to your daily routine and recovering from that would be more time consuming than just taking it easy now- kwim?
