Have you ever been to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore? What is available at the one in your neighborhood? Ours is about an hour away and I am curious, but also don't want to waste my time.

What can I do next?

I've been to one. They have a little bit of everything. Tile, flooring, lights, doors, wood, cabinets, sinks, toilets, etc.

They had some beautiful old doors that they got out of a nunnery when I was there.

It is a great place to hunt for something wonderful.

Since it can vary alot it might be better the check with your local location. I have seen cabinets, sinks, vanities, light fixtures, left over paint, and flooring to mention a few. However if you are looking for something in particular it may take several trips on a regular basis to find what you are looking for.

You will find anything someone else bought too much of or has pulled it out of a house and no longer want.

We have one 15 minutes away and it's terrible. I don't need to redecorate in the 70s style which is the bulk of what we find when we've gone. I bet like any donation center it will depend on the area and will be hit or miss in terms of selection. If you are in the area, you should drop by just to see what you see. Based on my store I wouldn't drive one hour, though. Good luck.

My in-laws go there all the time and get some cool stuff like neat door handles, doors, furniture, etc. I've never been but would love to!

We have one here. It is very similar to the Salvation Army store.

We have one very close to us, and it really just depends on each time you go. Sometimes they have tons of home improvement items or furniture -whatever has been donated. It's kind of like a really good thrift store -you stop by a lot if you're really looking for something they're likely to have. If I lived that far away, I would call to see if they had what I wanted. It completely depends on what's donated at any given time.

I have not been, but my DH has been a couple times recently.
Once to look for painting supplies and once to look for a front door.
He was completely unimpressed.
And said they were way over priced. Front doors in poor condition for as much as a (cheap) new one.
I'd call first!

I like ours...granted it's pretty close by...I'd have to have some good reasons to drive that for to go tho' (which, if you're looking for more than a few odds and ends - it might be worth it). Sometimes you can call ahead and get an idea of if the things you're looking for are likely to be in stock.

ETA: The one in our neighborhood has furniture, tools, electric supplies, desks, flooring, lighting, cabinets....all kinds of stuff :)

They have a little bit of everything. I found some carpet samples that sold 3/$1. I put one on the front passenger floor of my car to keep it a bit cleaner. I have one in back of my car to place on the seat if I need to protect it from something or to lay on the ground if I need to change a tire, they are also good to provide traction if you get stuck on ice in winter. I saw a fiberglass bathtub for $50, kitchen sinks with faucet for $25. I got matching outdoor light fixtures for $8. Just tons of stuff. Worth a look.

I think it is a fun place to go for home improvement projects. Ours has lumber, windows, bathroom fixtures, tools, hardware, paint. The last time I went there was to find a replacement for half of my toilet paper holder. New holders were $14 minimum. I thought I could just replace the one part that I needed, even if I didn't find one that matched exactly. But the parts were so cheap at the ReStore I ended up getting a whole matching set of parts, all in great shape. Another time I bought a single cabinet with a mirrored door to make a jewelry cabinet.

We have one in Manassas. Its good. The one in Chantilly is the base here and has the higher end goods.

Everything is available. Six panel doors for $5-10. Counter tops. Cribs. Fireplace inserts. Dining tables. Cabinet sets. Sinks and vanities. Light fixtures.

Each restore should have a website that shows things currently available. Here is a list of them in GA.

I think it is great for refurbishing a home. Otherwise for knicknacks, just go thrift store shopping.

Anything, they are all different.
They really came in handy when we bought our house. We even have one that regularly sells movie props from productions and stuff.
Just recently our friend picked up real oak flooring for our hard wood floors at the one by his house, which was a huge score.
Have fun =)
