As a follow up to yesterday's post (thank you all!) - Fly Lady.com was mentioned - I've signed up but haven't had a chance to really investigate the site. Any luck with this?

What can I do next?

I do FlyLady on and off - I'm the type who seems to get caught up in doing EVERYTHING, and doing it all RIGHT. But this just doesn't work in reality with the FlyLady system when you have two small children. I can't seem to get ALL the morning routine stuff done every morning, and then I get upset that the bathroom counter didn't get wiped or the kitchen sink isn't empty and shiny. Or I DO get to it, but then it's a scramble getting my son to school because I got breakfast on the table too late. I guess I have to laern to rearrange some of the routines to fit our personal life. BUT, her tips have been helpful, like decluttering, only keeping and buying things you need, teaching your children to give away toys and clothes they don't use, and wow, making the bed and keeping the tops of dressers clear really does make the house look and feel cleaner! My advice is to go ahead and try it, but don't be afraid to tweak it to what works for you!

I Love FlyLady!!! You really do have to go and do all the baby steps in order and not rush ahead. I kind of flutter...then Fly for a while, then sometimes fall off the bandwagon so to speak but I always go back to it because the routines are easy to follow and much easier than rushing around last minute. I love the "fling boogies" and decluttering. You really can not clean clutter. FLY stands for Finally Loving Yourself and I just adore that because as a mom we almost always neglect ourselves and take on more than we can really do then feel bad about it...with Fly Lady you can establish routines that won't wear you out and will leave you with a house you can be proud of.

I do not follow their plan/structure.
But I do read their stuff from time to time.
It inspires me; also gives me ideas of things to do.
Good luck.

Some routines will work for some better than others. I was a huge fan of the Organized Home site and discussion boards, which sadly is now defunct (I believe there's a Yahoo group with some of the people from that site but not sure where it is). I disagree with the Fly Lady concept of measuring your success by how many pounds of stuff you throw out. It just completely misses the point for me. But again, that's me - it may be exactly what you need!

I also found that web site to be insanely complicated and, well, disorganized. Very difficult to navigate. Ironic :)

I used flylady and found the emails to be very annoying. I used the lists to fill in my weekly calendar and it worked for me very well. For instance, I headed my week "Focus on the Master bedroom and bathroom" then the next week I had a different zone on my header. It helped me remember to focus and do the area without all the other stuff like shine your sink and get dressed to the shoes.
