I like North of the River and I am trying to find a really good bakery that does cakes, cupcakes and cookies. I dont like going to the store they are just not what I'm looking for.

There's a nice little place in Claycomo. I believe it's Nellie's Cakes, but not sure. I pass it all the time and I've used her several times for cakes. She's very good. She isn't all that fast because she's very busy. So you need to put your orders in early.

Le monde bakery in north town makes awesome cookies. There are also two other bakeries on north oak traffic way which are good.
Wallie's on North Oak is amazing. Very good!
There is a bakery that is on North Oak south before North Kansas City, near Cascone's. It is in a small square building and called something like Dutch or German Bakery. It is on the right side if you are heading south. They make these yummi mini cakes that are made into different things. They are so good, yumm

I've gone to Wally's at 38th & North Oak for decades for cakes, tea cakes and pastries. Just Desserts on the Liberty Square is a wonderful option for cupcakes, cookies and breads. I hope this was helpful.
There is a shop called Classy Chocolate just off the Liberty Sqaure on E. Kansas. They have everything you are asking for. The gals who own the store just expanded into Kearney too. Not only are they tasty, but they are allergy concious too if you need that. We've gotten lots of stuff from them and it is always delicious. Good luck and God Bless.
