Financial/Budgeting/Bill Paying HELP!!!

Since moving here a year ago, our bills have increased. Our savings will be gone by the end of this year. I am scared. my husband has a good job, and I have cut out so many "extras," that I don't know where to go next. Our bills consist of a mortgage, loan, utilities, the Dish, groceries and gas. No credit card debt. Yet, we are living paycheck to paycheck and still not having enough. We have excellent credit. My husband has to travel a lot, so I am home with our two children. I have tried to sell some of our things, but to no avail. I do have jewelry, coins, and misc things to sell, but do not know where to go to sell these items. Any suggestions besides Craigslist and Ebay? I tried to refinance, but the mortgage broker said that they couldn't get a better payment or interest rate than we already have now. What to do? Any suggestions? Also, if i try to settle the loan for less than the pay off, how will that effect our credit rating/score?

What can I do next?

I think you've done a great job trying to budget, but it looks like you should try to work. For me, working at the daycare or preschool is a good option because they offer a discount when you work there and you still get to see your kids. My husband traveled a lot too but I still worked full time(not at the daycare). That in and of itself isn't the sole reason you are at home.

Hi CS,
This sounds very scary to me. We're living on one income too, and some months can be sooo tight!

If your savings are dwindling, and you're selling stuff for extra cash, you are not (I would think) living paycheck to paycheck... because you are spending more than the paychecks are worth. You are, it sounds like, going 'in the hole.'

It sounds like you are doing everything right from a budgeting standpoint (except, I'd say get rid of the Dish, but that's just me - lol). And I'd never suggest your children would be better off anywhere else but with you in your home... But what will you do when your savings are gone, and you've sold all your belongings, and the next bills come?

Sorry, I don't mean to scare you, really. But please start looking into {{something}} - maybe part-time, or an afternoon job, or work-from-home, or selling homemade cookies, or whatever. Have something "in the works" before things get any worse (which, they may NOT, but be ready... right?) Who knows, you could end up being this country's next great entrepeneur (sp!), but it can't happen until you start something going.

Hello.
It may not help much, but you can also try purchasing your groceries through www.sharecolorado.com. This is through the Catholic archdiocese out of Denver, but has pick up sites in several states and many cities, including in NM, and Albuquerque (among others). I'm sorry I can't be of much other help. Good luck to you though.
