Fetal Movement Question

I'm pregnant with my first so every little thing is making me worry. :)

I'm 18+5 weeks and I've been feeling movement for about 3 weeks now but I'm still feeling it in the exact same place, very low and on the left side. Is this normal? Shouldn't the baby be moving upwards as my uterus moves up?

Worrying for nothing?

What can I do next?

worrying for nothing. You'll feel flutters only ... and you'll feel real movement- movement at around 5 or 6 mos into it. :)
Feet in the rib cage, head moving around on your bladder, etc. Enjoy the butterfly kisses while they last.

You are feeling baby's movements already??? i was at my 20 weeks ultrasound and saw that my son was a very active baby inside. But I didn't feel a thing. If you have started feeling it starting at 15 weeks, you must feel happy about that. At that stage you just feel like butterflies inside. Don't worry , wait for 2-3 weeks and you should feel the kicks good and strong.

No worries. I never felt ANY of my 4 babies move until 22+ weeks.

I didn't feel my first baby move AT ALL the entire last week of my pregnancy. He was perfect.

Breathe. During most pregnancies first time moms stress themselves out over things that aren't issues. Enjoy this. Bruised ribs will make you wish for movement in one area! LOL

Congratulations!

They stay low for a while. I felt movement at 15 weeks too --as is normal for second, third, fourth kids, etc. My baby is only now moving upwards, and I'm close to 24 weeks. One of my midwives says they like to stay low for a long while.

Most babies are LOA, which means Left Occipital Anterior. This is a fancy way of saying that baby is laying with his/her back on your left side (feet and hands to the right), head down with his/her back to your front. Even though the head down and anterior position probably won't come until later when baby really grows, you feeling movement in only one place probably just means that he/she has a favorite spot in your uterus :)

Here's an answer based loosely on science. Just because the uterus enlarges (moves up) doesn't mean the baby who weighs more than fluid moves up. He's still very small. I suggest he's not actually moving much yet.

Get a book with pictures of the fetus as it grows. We got one from the library when my daughter was pregnant. It's fascinating to see what the fetus looks like as each stage. And there are write ups describing it's development.
