We have an 18 month old boy & am looking for ideas for my husband for father's day. We are on a fixed budget so I'd like to do something creative rather than expensive!

How about the clay that dries hard and have the little one make a handprint and footprint. When it gets hard he can haveit on his dresser or desk to remind him of fathers day

On Long Beach Island there's a place called Paint A Pot. It's unfinished ceramics that you paint yourself and they fire and glaze it then you go back to pick it up. I did a plate for my husband's first father's day with the baby's footprint on it. You can do kid's handprints, It's creative, personalized, you can paint a message on something, it's unique and made by you! Maybe there is a place like this near you if you are too far from Long Beach Island. !!

At that age,a plaster of paris stone with his hand print and different embellishments is fun and you can put his name and date on it. My husband has incorporated his into our landscaping for years to come! You can by the kit for about $7.00.

how about taking a piece of construction paper and cutting to fit an inexpensive frame, putting the baby's hands in finger paints and then on the construction paper to make hand prints and them putting on some little poem about hand prints and/or dad's, and the year, and maybe some cut out pictures of the little one and dad to add to the handprints.

Hi J.,

For the past 4 years I have been taking my kids to the mall to have their picture taken and put on a T-shirt which says "We love Daddy" My husband loves it and wears it proudly.
You could also make handprints of your son using paints or ink pads (kid friendly, washes off easily) on paper and frame it. Maybe write something next to it.

Good Luck!

Try looking up some fathers day poems online and create a plaque with the words and some pics of your son. You can find a wood unfinished or finished at a craft store for a very inexpensive price. Or create it with a shadow box. If he has an office, he'll be able to hang it on his wall or put it on his desk. Or just put it on his dresser at home. I did this for my husbands first fathers day with a poem that started out "walk a little slower daddy", it was beautiful, and he loved it!!

When my daughter was that age I bought a hinged double frame - used paint to put her handprints on some paper and put that in one frame and took a cute picture of her and put it in the other frame - he still has it on his desk at work.

There are also some craft ideas. One that I loved making as a kid is a mug. It's clear plastic and there is paper that the kids can draw on then the paper slips insde this mug somehow. Or there are countless little projects like that - check out A.C. Mooore or Michael's.

Hi J.. This may seem a little silly but I think its cute. You could order a trophy for the "Father of the Year" This wasy your husband will always have it and its nice to have in your office/den or even displayed in your living room or dining room. Its cute coming from a little one. Who knows what kind of trophys your son will have to display with his daddys in the future! Good luck!

Go to Walmart and have pictures done for the special package deal. You need about 10$ and will power to say no to the other packages but get a nice frame (also about 5$ at Walmart) frame it and it is the perfect Fathers Day gift plus it gives you pictures for the Grandpa's, Uncles, God Parents, etc.!!! Kill lots of birds with 1 stone so to speak!!! A.

How about getting printable iron-on transfer paper & making a t-shirt with a picture of your DH and DS on the front? You could put any sort of text on there, too, such as "My favorite guys" or a descriptor of what they're doing. I did this for my father for Christmas. I used a picture of him pushing my kids down a snowbank on a sled and captioned it "Grampa's Snow Buddies!" He absolutely loved it, and he's not normally a t-shirt guy. ;o)

I watched my little nephew from the time he was born until he was around 3 or so. When he was about a year and a half or so we made gifts for my brother-in-law & my husband. He had on only a diaper & I put one of my husband's ties on him and a pair of my husband's dress shoes and took some pictures. At that time we had to go somewhere to have the pictures blown up but now with the capabilities of computers, the most expensive part will be the frame. I think they were the most adorable Father's Day any dad could get. We also had him write his name on the bottom of the glass frame & the date. Have fun!
