Fabric Slings?

I got one used at Kid to Kid. It is by Green Pea Designs http://www.greenpeadesigns.com/ I like it a lot, although if I am going a long way or plan on carrying her for a longer period, I think a wrap is better because it is easier to evenly distribute the babies weight across your back, therefore caising less back pain. I have "The Ultimate Baby Wrap" for that. You can get those just about anywhere. My suggestion to you is to go to a specialty store and meet with the pros and let them help you. I went to The Nesting Place in Grapevine annd they showed me a few types and let me try them with my baby in the store.

I got a hotsling when my son was about 12 weeks old. Up to that point, he hadn't slept but for 30 minutes to 1 hour at a time because of his reflux. The first time in the sling, he slept on me for 5 hours! I used it up to about 8 months with him (for a hip carry) and now, I just put him straight into the shopping cart so I don't need it, but I will be using it again in September for my 2nd! I got mine at Lonestar Baby in Frisco.

I had a New Native sling and a Baby Bjorn carrier. When I was chasing after my other children, I prefered the Baby Bjorn because they were so secure and I didn't feel like they could slip out. If we ever have another one, I'll stick with my BB (the fabric ones are super cute though!)

I'm not sure exactly what you've seen, but I have a Moby Wrap and COULD NOT live without it. My first child was colicky and cried well into her 6th or 7th month of life. The sling was often the only thing that would calm her down. I can still carry her in a hip hold using the sling (she's 15 months now). I just had a baby last week and she's loving the sling too. It is helpful because I can be close to her and still use my hands to get things done or play with my oldest. I bought mine at http://theslingstation.com/ I actually bought it when they had a warehouse you could visit in McKinney. You can buy it online or go to the Peppermint Place in Richardson. Their staff is really helpful and they have a great return policy. Good luck! It was well worth the $40 investment. I love it SO much more than our baby bjorn.

I just bought one for my baby so I can't attest for how well they work but...I would suggest looking on craigslist.org...It is a great way to buy one for cheap and not waste money if you don't like it.
