Fabric Idea Question...

My MIL and FIL raise dachshunds, and they collect things with weiner dogs on them... I have been on a hunt for dachshund fleece to make them a knotted fleece blanket, but have yet to come across any... but the other day, I was at Joann's and they had a very cute cotton fabric with dachshunds on it, so I bought a yard of it, even though I have no idea what to make with it... I didn't want to NOT get it, in the event that they didn't have it the next time I get there...

SO, I am looking for ideas for what I can make my MIL with this yard of dachshund fabric... I am thinking along the lines of some kind of bag (but I'm worried that the thin cotton won't be conducive to this, unless it was lined with something?), or some cloting accessory, or home accessory, but I'm open to any suggestions you have!

Thanks, ladies!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

An apron WOULD be a great idea for the fabric, but I don't think she uses them... :(

OOOHHHH, PILLOWS! I hadn't thought of that!!! Liking that idea...

THIS IS SO MUCH FUN! Lots of ideas I didn't think of, and definitely some I could pull off! THANK YOU, LADIES!!!

Is there enough to make a pillow?
You could buy a pillow inside (form) in a bedroll (tootsie roll shape) and make the cover. That would be cute.
Oh! My mom makes tissue box covers *kind of* like this but cuter:

Let me know if you want the pattern!

A muumuu?

I'm trying to think of something I would want to wear with dachshunds on it, and I'm drawing a blank. The only thing I can come up with is some kind of pillow or beach bag. Yeah, how about a tote bag.

Yes, you woudl need to line it, but i would need a pattern to figure out how! You also could cover a scrapbook and put pictures of their dogs in it. Also, you could make a simple block quilt by buying coordinating fabric colors. You could make it small as for a wall hanging, or medium sized for a foot/leg blanket, or large as a full quilt. Or an oven mit or potholder - again, I'd need a pattern ot know how to make it be a little heat proof.

Pillow cases? Either for the living room or simple ones for the bedroom.

or if your handy enough (or know someone) maybe a small quilt/throw blanket.

I would make a pillow, then with the leftover, get a tea towel or a regular kitchen towel or two that coordinates with the fabric. Then, sew about a 3 inch strip of the fabric along the bottom.

My sister inlaw makes patchwork blankets out of a light cotton material cut into like 10 inch squares and sewen together and then you put a heavier one larege piece material on the other side and attach the two around the edges. You can mix in other fabric (like a solid color or another print with the squares). She usually uses several different fabric for the squares. Everyone she makes it f or it is their favorite blanket

My thought would be pillows. I would get a matching solid fabric and make a two-sided pillow...or 2. :)

How about a LARGE pillow (with coordinating fabric for the back) for their dogs to lie on? Make it like a huge pillowcase and insert the largest size pillow form (or even a bed pilow - might be enough for 2 of those? depends on how big the dogs are...) so that it can be removed for washing - will hold up much better that way...
