Essential Oils...looking for Advice from Anyone Who Has Experience

I'm looking for a good book or two about esential oils and how to use them. I visited Amazon.com and was a bit overwhelmed with the selections. It's so hard to choose and then reading reviews with a variety of positive and negative views makes it harder.

If you have experience with esential oils, I would love advice, input, whatever experience and / or testimonies you'd like to share. An acquaintence was telling me about essential oils and she uses oregano oil in place of antibiotics and she swears it works. I want to learn more about the healing effects of these oils.

If you have a book that is very descriptive and easy to understand and you believe it would be worth looking at, could you pass that infomation along? Thank you.

Are you on FB? There is a GREAT group on there you should join. Just recently they changed their page to "Oily Wisdom" but if you do a search for their previous name of "Essentially Healthy" you should be able to read past posts until they close it down for good. There were some privacy concerns under the old name which is why they switched their name and have sarted a new group under the name of Oily Wisdom.

I use lavender oil on the bottoms of our feet for relaxation, right before bed. Eucalyptus oil is great on the bottoms of feet when the kids have a cough or stuffy nose. I rub a little on and put a pair of cotton socks on them when they're getting into bed. Rarely do they have any problems then during the night.

I have no help as far as books go,but my mom also uses oil of oregano. It is an antibiotic and an antiviral. She heats a cup of water and puts a few drops of oil of oregano in it and drinks it like tea. I cant hack it. I tried. It is way too strong for me.
I have just started making my own herbal salve and I will be using some oils in them, both for the benifits and to cover less appealing scents from some of the herbs.
My local health food store is a huge source of information for me!

I love using the orange oil for headaches. It is great for sinus problems especially. You should be able to bring up balanceessentialoils.com and it will give you a little more info. Lavender is good for relaxation.
