Have you heard the latest news on the supplements you are talking about? They are dangerous for your health. I have taken them before for a mid afternoon boost and after learning more about them, I no longer use them and neither does my daughter. TOO many people end up in the ER, especially if you mix them with alcohol. Those products are not good for you and they just add empty calories to your daily intake.

You are not immune to caffiene, you are not eating the right foods.

The key to energy is a proper diet, lots of water and exercise.

My body has an issue with absorption and per my Dr., I use the B-12 tablets that melt under your tongue a couple times a day. This routine has replaced the B-12 injections I was getting. I do get regular blood workups to ensure I don't have too much in my system.

I always thought I drank a lot of water but I stepped it up a couple notches and I believe it helps. I love my water ICE cold with lemon, lime, orance, or grapefruit slices in it.

If you are really THAT down and out of energy, go get a blood workup to make sure you are ok.

I wouldn't mess with any of those energy drinks--my husband has patients who end up in the ER with heart-attack like symptoms after drinking too much.

If you are developing a resistance to caffeine, then I think it is time to wean yourself off of it, not to seek MORE.

Think of other ways to get energy. Look for energy-promoting foods. Exercise. Make sure you're getting plenty of rest (minimum of 7 hours). Check your thyroid.

ETA: I got this article a few weeks ago. It is about getting energy during pregnancy, but the information applies to anyone: http://www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/eating-well/week-9/...

Another possiblity that nobody has mentioned yet - go see your doctor and tell him/her that you're tired during the day. If you have decent sleep habits, you shouldn't be - there might be an underlying medical reason. Two possible causes of daytime fatigue are low thyroid and sleep apnea. The reason I know this is that I've recently been evaluated for both of those things, and daytime fatigue was the symptom that sent my doc looking for answers. In my case, it looks like my thyroid is indeed the culprit.

People can overdoes on caffeine.

Those energy drinks, are just a band-aid, and MANY people end up in the hospital because of it. I even read an article about it recently.
It can affect your heart etc.

Just get more sleep.
Or get adequate sleep.
You need rest.
Sleep is the body's way to heal and recoup.

I am a coffee drinker. I love coffee. But I don't overdose on it.
And I don't use it to make up for lack of sleep.
I do get enough sleep.
And everyday is different, per the body's needs.
Some days coffee will help. On other days it won't.
And it also depends on a woman's PMS cycles too. PMS also affects energy levels.

You can't just drink more and more and more caffeine or energy drinks to compensate.

You have been given a lot of great advice from the other ladies. I just want to add that your carbs should be complex carbs from whole grains (oatmeal, brown rice, sweet potato, 100% whole wheat bread or pasta...) to sustain your blood sugar levels. When you eat refined white flour or sugars, your blood sugar spikes and then drops leaving you tired. Sleep and good nutrition is key. There are lots of informative websites on diet like Livestrong.com or bodybuilding.com.

I picked up a good tip from the Dr. Williams newsletter: to add some whey protein powder to my breakfast. My energy lasts a lot longer each day, now that I do that. Other sources of protein (eggs, for instance) would probably be a good idea too.

Try coming off of caffine for a few weeks and then start to drink it again. Once it's completely out of your system your body will adjust to not having it, then you can re-introduce it and it should work again. Also, try drinking your afternoon cup of coffee quicker.

I love 5 hour energy, but am nervous to take too much. I will take 1/3 or 1/2 if I'm feeling really sluggish. I have heard not so great things about it though, so I don't want to endorse it too much!
I know for me, diet and exercise really does wonders for my body. Tossing the junk food is a huge factor in my energy levels.
