Good Evening Ladies!

Has anyone had or know someone who has had the procedure Endometrial ablation? The specific procedure is NovaSure it uses a precisely controlled dose of energy. The procedure is for Menorrhagia which is excessive menstrual bleeding. After reading the pamphlet it made me want to hear from someone who knows more about it than I do. Of course they have to list all the possible side effects on the pamphlet. The option are one live with it for the next 7 or so years, have this procedure done, hornibe therapy, D & C or hysterectomy. I am 43 years old and my tubes were tied after the second child. Thank you for your time! God Bless!

What can I do next?

Hi Kimberly,

I had this done several years ago due to excessive bleeding. All I can say is DO IT. You won't regret it. It's a 30 min procedure, day surgery. You are up and going within a couple of days, a lot better than weeks of recovery from a major surgery, which is what you will go through with a hysterectomy. Some have periods after, but I am period free. It was a blessing after bleeding so heavily that I felt weak and dizzy. The side effects listed are only what to watch for, not for what will/may happen. Good Luck!

Hi Kimberly,

I had the Novasure procedure done 3 yrs ago and it was the best thing i ever did. What a relief!! No more heavy, crampy periods. It was wonderful. My tubes were tied after my 2nd child also. Before NovaSure, it seemed as I got older (I'm 41) my periods were getting heavier and more unbearably painful. I didn't want to use any drugs to manage those things, so I talked to my GYN about NovaSure and having a hysterectomy.

Although, I did have a complete hysterectomy last year because my right ovary had somehow become twisted, causing massive pains, nausea and vomiting. (completely unrelated to the ablation)

I recommend the Novasure!

Kimberley,

I work in an OB/GYN office and we do these often. And I have to say that I have not seen one of our patient with any problems. They leave the office that day with no problems. And come back with a follow up and they are happy! So I say go for it you are having excessive menstrual bleeding and do not want to go thru extensive surgery. As this procedure is such a simple one and you are up and going the next day! Wish you well with whatever choice you make! God Bless!

Most peculiar thing. I just heard about Novasure yesterday at ____@____.com. I would recommend signing up for this group. It is very informative and many people respond to questions regarding their own personal experience. I haven't had the procedure, but have a history of difficulties myself. Hopefully this reference will help you. Good luck!

Hi, I had the Novasure procedure and it changed my life ... I had a lot of bleeding after my third child. It was so bad that some days I couldn't leave the house for fear of an "accident". Interesting you had your tubes tied. I heard from friends that in itself causes cramping and extra bleeding. I am so pleased with my GYN's recommendation that I tell everyone.

Best of luck.

My daugher-in-law had a procedure about a year ago. Not sure if it was NovaSure, but she has had good results. Good luck!

Hey. I had a close friend in AZ whom had this procedure done about a year and a half ago. She in in her mid 40's and was so happy with having it done. She had the heavy bleeding for a while and I also believe she had her tubes tied before the procedure. She has mentioned many times on how she is very happy she did it. I am sure I can get to her any extra questions you may have.
Good luck.

Go for it. It's not that big of a deal. I had an ablation about 5 years ago. It wasn't the Novasure procedure, because that one wasn't around then, but I would do it again if I had to. Good luck!

Kimberley, I had a myomectomy over 10 years ago to deal with endometrial fibroids. It was awful, but I was trying to save what little fertility I had left. A year and a half ago, I gave up and had the Novasure. It was the best thing I ever did. I've had no problems with it at all. I'm sure you'll be thrilled if you go for it. C.

Kimberley,
I haven't had one done.. but I am an OB-Gyn nurse and we do them all the time at our office. Most all of my patients that have had them done are happy with their decision. I hardly ever see someone who has major complications from it. We had one person recently whose bleeding continued after the surgery, but seriously, I hardly ever see a patient who isn't happier after the novasure. It's a quick and common procedure. If the menorrhagia is really affecting your life, I say go for it!

I had the option to have that done, or a hysterectomy. I was 45, had all the children I had planned so this was a better choice for me. However, my daughter, aged 25 had the same problem so she opted for the Nova-Sure. It was the best solution for her and she hasnt regretted her choice. She was in and out in one day, only minor pain, and back to her routine after 2-3 days. Good luck with whatever choice you make!

I work in surgery and have helped doctors on many ablations and probably 98% of the women that had this procedure were very grateful they did. Several of my friends have had an ablation for the same issues you are having and they are much better. It is a very simple procedure and there really isn't much recovery after. Good luck to you on whatever you decide.

Had it done when I was 42 and it was a God send. Was starting the heavy bleeding (to the point where I couldn't leave the house for days), costant bleeding (periods almost every two weeks). My O.B/GYN gave me both options hysterectomy/NovaSure) and I picked the least invasive and was pleased. Also I'm not having the dropped bladder problems some women have after a hysterectomy. And the recovery time was cut in half. Highly recommend it.

I waited a couple of years after having this offered to me as I just hate to have ANY procedures done! SOOOO worth it! I had it done about 4 months ago. The worst part was that I expected to be able to be done with pads and such but was not able to be done with that for about 6 weeks. But now!!! Yippie all is great! Prior to this I had a continual period for about 2 months straight and huge periods before and this stopped this totally. You will be up and running in 1-2 days with no problem!

Go for it!

D. age 55!

I had the endometrial ablation done about 2 yrs ago and I wish I'd had it done years ago. I missed out on so much while sitting at home during that time of the month. I went into the OR about 1pm and was home by 4pm. When I woke up, my back hurt BAD, I took one pain pill when I got home and slept for a while. And I haven't had anymore problems since. I don't think you will be sorry if you decide to make the decision to go through with this procedure. Good luck and God Bless!!!!
