Hi to all the moms out there in mommy land. I was wondering if anyone out there is having any problems with your electric provider? I been having all sorts of calls from people I know about their electric bills this month. I know last month my bill was 83.31 and this month it has jumped to 212.71. There is no way .... I have never had a bill this high inmy life and it makes no sence to me. The electric company keeps giving me the run around and I never get to talk to a manager. My moms bill was 220.00 and the woman hasn't even turned on her heater all winter. My girlfriends bill was 180.00 and that for a one bedroom appartment. What is going on..... So I was wondering if any of you guys where having any problems. Out of the 5 people that I know all of us have seen a huge change in this months bill.We don't all have the same provider. If you are in the same boat as us please let me know. I am runnig a little test . Let me know your provider and kWh % if you don't mind ... Thanks for helping A.

What can I do next?

My bill through Reliant is insane this month! In November my kWh was 975, and December's was 1956. Ok we had a Christmas tree with lights, and one of the blow up outdoor snow globes, but that's it, that's all we had plugged in, and not constantly on all the time either. My bill went from $185 last bill to $456 this bill. I almost fainted! We are not on average billing and never have been, although this bill was crazy! I called the electric provider and they pretty much told me to have my meter tested, and get an electrition out here. The kWh I've used since my last meter reading on Dec 18th is insane too, so I don't know what the problem is. We're not using anymore electricity than we normally do. There's no reason our bill should be $456, who pays that! Good Heavens!

Same here- Mine jumped from 240.00 to 340.00. I am pretty good about turning the heat way down we are not home. I think we had some cold days and like a previous post said- everyone was out of school and home for the holidays. Hope this month is better. We use Reliant also.

Do you have average monthly billing with your provider? The only thing I can think is that maybe they reset their "average" cost on January 1 and it's higher because of last year's high energy prices? We didn't notice any jump in our electric bill with TXU, and we aren't on the average billing plan.

We have TXU
We are not on average billing
Last billing cycle due 12/26/08 we used 1656 kwh @ 11.6 cents for a total of $196.54
This billing cycle due 01/26/09 we used 2051 kwh @ 11.6 cents for a total of $242.61

In the summer we pay between 500-700 during July or Aug but we also have a mother in law suite so we have 2 of every major appliance a two story 3800 sq. foot house and a pool.

I hope this helps.

Hmmm . . . Our bill almost doubled, but I chalked it up to Christmas lights, and we were home a lot more because of the Winter Break (I'm a teacher) and we had the heater on a bit more. Now that I'm reading this, I'm wondering if something else is going on. We're with TXU.
