Oxyclean - does it really work? Have you ever washed anything without oxyclean, it came out stained, and then washed it again and oxyclean took care of the problem?

I've used it, but never noticed a difference.

What can I do next?

I have to wet the item, mix the oxyclean into a paste, let it sit, then wash it to work. It removes mud and food stains that have gone through the washer and dryer. Sometimes it takes two times.

Also, It works on gross tile floors but you have to let it set about 10 minutes.

In my experience, the powder will not eliminate serious stains when simply added to the wash, but I have found that it works really well reviving dingy whites and getting out serious stains if you are willing to let the item soak for a VERY long time. I had a vintage christening gown that had really yellowed with age and would obviously not stand up to chlorine bleach. I put it in a bucket with a scoop of oxygen cleaning powder and enough hot water to cover it, and just let it soak for several days; it came out as white as new with no damage to the fabric. I've had good results against serious stains (ground in dirt, blood, body soil) using this method, but N.B. it can dull the colors for anything not truly colorfast.

My SIL raved about it so I got a tub. Ho hum I have found. I am in agreement with Victoria W. Shout is a much better stain fighter. I prefer Borax as a laundry booster and its other uses.

I tried it years ago...was told it was like a miracle cure for stains. Didn't work as well as Shout, in my opinion. That's all I use for stains now, ever.

I've not used it a lot in the wash, but I've found other uses for it. It's a MIRACLE worker for removing carpet stains and strange red juice stains from the countertops. I just put a scoop into a spraybottle of warm water. Give it a little shake and don't use it until the oxyclean is completely dissolved. This solution is my go-to for any stains on anything at all. If I spill something on my clothes, I can spot treat it immediately, even while I'm still wearing it.

I swear by it. I soak in oxyclean (1/2 scoop to a bucket of water) for an hour or two, then wash with 1/2 scoop in the machine (I have a front loader).

My BFF swears by it! I've only used it a few times and did notice a difference, but I use it on the stuff that may or may not survive anyway, it's that dirty... and it always comes out clean. You can't let the stain 'set', or else it doesn't help. If you wash it right away, I've never had a problem. I usually use the Target brand Oxyclean.

I have used it on white tees that had yellowed, soaked overnight and it did awesome on them. Also used on my youngest son's stuff when he was a baby, he was the king of spit-up and it worked great on that. As a laundry booster, not so much. I prefer Shout in the blue bottle for random stains.

For regular washing, I have not seen much difference. But, now I also use Shout and should probably buy stock if avaliable, it makes a difference if something is just totally stained through. I have gotten used baby clothes with the yellowing stain and gotten it out by soaking in Oxyclean. After soaking, I wash it again to make sure I get it all out. I have a very VERY messy almost 4 yr old and if I did not soak her clothes sometimes, she would be riddled with stains every day. The only bad thing I have found is those clothes that she constantly stains every single week if they have special prints not embedded in the fibers, it fades over time faster. But she has some clothes that have glittery decoration and still look good.

I think it helps fabrics keep their color. That is the main reason I use it.
