Do you any of you have any fantastic tricks or tips for getting baby formula/food out of clothes? It seems most of my daughter's shirts have an icky yellow tint that I can't get out :(

Thanks, mamas!

Shout before it goes through the wash the first time. And by that I don't mean yell...I mean "Shout" the laundry spray, lol.

I used it with both my kids and if you use it before the clothing is washed there is pretty much nothing it hasn't gotten out. And with grease, it will get it out in a 2nd wash even after the item has been through the dryer.

since i dont have a washing machine in my apartment and cant wash every single day, i have a bin that i use for soaking baby clothes, or anything that gets extra yucky. in the bin, i put a scoop of oxyclean in hot water and stick the clothes in. i let them soak for an hour or two, depending on how yucky they are. sometimes i even let it sit overnight and they come out super clean! then i hang dry them and put them in the normal wash.

Cheapest thing in the world may be your friend: dry your clothes in the sun. It may not work for the stains you have, but it works wonders for breastmilk poop stains and some food stains. If it fades but doesn't disappear, do a few rounds of it until its gone.

I always had really good results with Dreft spray for baby stains that came from either end ;)

Baby and toddler things get shouted and sent to the front of the line for laundry. The faster you shout and wash, the better the result. I throw the day's kitchen rags, bibs, burp rags, and soiled clothes all in the same load at the end of the day.

For stuff that I really can't get out, I would soak the clothes in a heaping scoop of Oxyclean and let soak overnight. I put this in a separate bucket, with maybe 1 gallon of water. Then I ran it through a regular (hot water) cycle. It took the stain out.

I am having some great results with those fels naptha bars of soap in the laundry isle at wal-mart. I used to order them on ebay and now wal mart carries them. Get the spot wet and rub that soap all over the spot and let it sit. You need to treat your spots as soon as you pull the clothes off of you babies, for best results

If you don't want to use chemical stain removers, such as the ones that have been suggested to you - I would recommend BabyGanics Stain Stain Go Away which is a plant based stain remover. It works very well on formula, food, and spit up stains. Spray liberally right after it happens of course and then let it sit for 5 minutes. All of my son's stains came out right away and I was happy to know I wasn't using toxic chemicals on his clothes.

With clothes like that, I just kept it for home use. I called it "home clothes."
Then used their unstained clothes for going out.

When they were toddlers, they learned to put on their "home clothes" not their good clothes, and then I didn't worry about how dirty it got.... at home. And they could still have fun. Because I was not all paranoid about these clothes getting "dirty."

So I simply 'recycled' the usage of these 'stained' clothes.

And when feeding baby, use a bib.

Al the best,
Susan
