My mom asked what we'd like for our 3 year old twins for Christmas and I thought I would like to have these chairs--they are pretty pricey, so can if you have this chair can you comment on them? How long can your child use them before outgrowing? Does your child sit in the chair comfortably for reading, watching tv etc. Thanks!

What can I do next?

We bought the chair for my oldest when he was a year old and he still sits in it at 4 1/2. We bought one for his little brother and he uses it all the time. It was a great investment!

Our 3 yr old received his when he was 1. He enjoys sitting in it to watch tv and to play with his trucks. We had his personalized so when he first started learning letters he had fun pointing to the letters in his name on the chair. It's held up really well to a lot of use. We're planning on purchasing one for our daughter when she gets a little older.

We bought this chair for my son when he was 2. He is now 4 and he still loves it. I set up a portable dvd player and he watches his shows while sitting in the chair. Just recently, I took the cover off to wash it and he is using the inserts as gymnastics mats. So yes, it is getting used one way or another. Also, we purchased ours on Ebay. They are much cheaper. You can also find the custom covers with name for as low as $4.99. There are different types of chairs, so make sure you purchase the correct one if you go the Ebay route.

Get the oversized ones. My son, who is 4, has that one and it fits him perfectly. It also fits my 9 year old.

My son got this chair when he turned one from my inlaws. He loves it, he is almost 3 and uses it everyday. He watches his videos in it and reads books by himself. He also climbs on it and pretends he is mountain climbing. It is a great chair and I would recommend it. Very durable, it dosent look like it is used at all. He will likely use it for a lot longer it is still much bigger than him. Hope this helps.

I bought one of these or our daughter when she was a year old….my hubby thought I was NUTS to spend $100 on a chair, but she was my baby ;) We had to help her on it at first, but once she figured it out, she LOVED it. We now keep it in our basement due to baby # 2's stuff taking up so much room, but every time we go down there to play or watch TV, my now 3 year old still uses this chair and LOVES it just as much. It is SUPER soft, easy to clean (unzip and throw the cover in the washer & dryer), very durable and can be used for years. I didn't know we'd get as much use out of it as we have. I do think it's over-priced, but considering how long we have had it and how much use we have gotten-maybe not.

Both my kids have one, they are 5 and 2. My 5yr old use it still and both kids at 2 sat in them and read and played. Good investment and easy to wash.

My son got one at his first birthday and he is turning four next month. We really like the chair...it is comfy for him and we actually used it for a while in our room for him to watch tv in while we got ready etc, now it has been in his room for about a year and he sits in it to read, play and sometimes likes to flip it over to make a "fort". It seems like kids dig having a place to sit that is their scale. I am sure you will get a lot of use out of them as long as you have them in a room that they are in frequently. I like that the cover is washable and the pocket in the back is fun for them to put books or toys in. About growing out of it...my son is a tall almost four year old and sits fine it it. After while I am sure it will just be a low seated position, but similar to a bean bag seat...

My girlfriend has 2 - one for each of her two boys. They don't use them very often. She said she wish she never bought them because for how expensive they are they don't get the use out of them.

We don't have those chairs, but we do have a chair for our daughter - we got it for her when she was only a year old and just took the legs off of it so it's shorter.

BabiesRUs has TONS of upholstered chairs on their website and a few in the store. You may be able to find something you like that isn't quite as expensive. I liked that one because it wasn't overly colorful and it was an actual upholstered chair like an adult chair rather than slipcovered foam.

Anyways, just thought I'd share!

Both of my kids have these chairs, and love them. My dtr has had hers since she turned 1, and she is about to turn 6. My son has his for about 3 years. They are holding up pretty well, especially considering that the kids like to turn them upside down and make bridges and forts with them. The one problem that I have noticed is that after all of the rough treatment, the chairs don't stay upright when the kids are sitting in them unless they are leaning on something. I now have the chairs in their bedrooms, up against the wall. My dtr likes to sit kind of sideways in her chair, with the feet over the arm. She is a small almost 6yr old, and I suspect she will outgrow it in another year. My almost 4yr old will probably get another 2yrs out of his.
I would recommend the darker colors, because they won't show stains (even though the covers are machine washable).
Bottom line- the kids love their chairs, and have enjoyed sitting, climbing, and jumping on them for more than 3 years.
Two thumbs up from me.
