Does Anyone Have Any Ideas for Me?

Be careful about how many kids you take and the ages. I watch a 2.5 year old boy along with my own two kids-ages 2.5 boys and 17 month olf girl. It is a requirement that you must be licensed to take more than three kids into your care. If something happens, they may be able to come back on you for going over three kids. You have to remember the ages of the kids to find activities for all of them. I take my kids to the zoo, parks, playgroups and you will not be able to do that with so many kids of different ages. I have a degree in education and found my child on NOrthside Parent Assoc and have had luck with Craigslist.

It can take a long time to find the right fit. At times, it can take me 8 or 9 months to find a family I really like and vice versa. DO not rule out craigslist or othe websights. I actually got a great family, who I have been watching for over a year, on this websight!! I have also gotten some awesome families from Craigslist. About four months ago someone answered my craigslist add, and we realized we actually know each other. She did not know that I was doing home daycare. Another "craigslist family" wound up being someone I knew from high school.

I have found it hard to find kids, but eventually it will happen. It just may not happen before this fall! Good luck and tell everyone you know that you are looking for kids to watch.

When I did home daycare I networked through my daughter's school. I just let the staff & other moms know what I did & I started getting calls. The end of the school year is actually a good time because people are looking for care during the summer.

Good morining,What area are you in? Let me ask you this, why not get your home licensed? Non- Licensed provider in the state of Illinois can only keep up to 3 children, check with DCFS for non license. To answer your question about more children, I love word of mouth, or tell the parents that are coming to let their friends and family know that you have x amount of slots left and if they know someone tell them about you. Remember all clients are not going to be a good fit, so give a trail period (2) weeks.
