Do You Own Any Tieks?

Are they really worth $200?

I have trouble thinking about paying $200 for a pair of shoes, but last fall I broke my foot. Since then, I think about shoes very differently. But before i order a pair of shoes for $200, I'd like to hear from some people who own them.

What can I do next?

I have a pair of Tieks and I love them. I only own a few pairs of shoes so I don't feel that $200 is "out of the norm" - I'd rather have 3 pairs of really good shoes, than 20 pairs of cheap shoes (that hurt my feet). I have a black pair that I can use for dressy flats or casual, especially since wearing heels is difficult for me due to a foot injury.

I got my first pair for Valentine's Day several years ago and I wear mine daily (not only do I love them, but with minimal care, they will last forever). I am asking for another pair in a different color for Mother's day this year.

As far as the amount of money they cost - to each his own. Folks will spend $5+ daily on a cup of coffee, or $50 on a steak dinner, or $100 on a massage - all things that feel or taste great, but are not tangible items. My husband loves the fact that I wear that gift nearly every day and love it. Money well spent on a well loved item in my opinion.

I do not own Tieks or know anything about them.

I had a fractured metatarsal last year. My orthopedic recommended Dansko or Birkenstock. I went with Dansko and they were worth the money.

I also learned that I have high arches and can't be barefoot. My very knowledgeable physical therapist recommended Vionic. I bought their flip-flops and LOVE them. She also made me a semi-custom orthotic for my tennis shoes. They have made a huge difference.

So while I truly believe in expensive shoes, I am not sure if Tieks are a fashion statement or expensive because they're orthopedically 'correct'. Personally, I would only pay for 'orthopedically' correct.

Nope!
Someone else mentioned these awhile back and I had to look them up then too.
It seems I can't remember that they are shoes.

I'm a major Birkenstocks fan.
My feet need the arch support and room for my toes to spread out.

I gave up wearing anything that resembled a ballet flat decades ago.
It's just not shaped the way my feet are shaped and I refuse to suffer for fashion.

Good luck on your shoe shopping venture!

No, I would not buy them at any price because I need a wide toe box. Any type of ballet shoe is shaped very differently than my foot. Maybe these are good for some people, but not for me. I don't know what your foot needs now that it's healed from surgery, but suggest that you think about the shape of your foot, where you need space and where you need support, and then do some research.

We had a previous question on here about Tieks!

One really nice thing about Tieks is that there is no time limit on returns (as long as they are unworn). So if you buy them, you can see how they look to you and "think about the purchase" for as long as you want.

I also like Crocs flats, I think they are very comfortable, they come in a variety of styles and are not expensive.

I don't own any but I've heard good reviews.

I have bad feet and ankles and need good supportive shoes. I wear clarks, born, Merrill, hoka and other good brands which can easily run around $200.

I'm not afraid to spend $200 on a good quality shoe if it helps me avoid pain.
