JFF- How Many Do You Own?

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

I never realized I had a bit of a shoe problem until recently ;) I'm not a super girly girl, and I rarely get to go out, so why I feel compelled to buy copious amounts of *beautiful* sky high heels is beyond me! BUT, they make me happy. I probably but 2 new pairs a year, and honestly, I can't even guess how many pairs I currently have!

I've worn the same old beat up pair of gray tennis shoes for the past 3 years (only when I have to wear sneakers), and have a beat up old pair of flip flops I pretty much live in... and countless pairs of gorgeous heels :)

So, if you had to guess, how many pairs of shoes would you say you own?

On a side note, I'm still trying to catch up with my HUSBAND. He owns more shoes than I do, even though he lives in 1 of 3 pairs at all times!! He owns his own BOWLING shoes... and never bowls, who does that?! ;)

What can I do next?

12. We have a shoe rule in the house for me and a hat rule in the house for my hubby. We each get to have 12. When we first moved in together I had almost 100 pairs of shoes, and he had about 40 hats. We have pared them down, and life is now much simpler, and much cheaper!!

I love shoes. They always fit no matter how much I eat! The last time I counted including flip flops I had around a 100 pairs of shoes. I would say now it is closer to 75 pairs. I am not home or I would count them. My favorite is my Pumas which I have 5 pairs of. Since I love shoes so much I am always getting them from my husband or daughters as Christmas or Birthday presents.

Can you tell I'm putting off house work? CLEARLY you all NEED to know the full details of my Shoe Situation.

Here's what I have.

2 pairs boots:
- Flat soled knee highs. Mad Max keeps on asking if he can borrow them but they are already falling apart, so I say no. They WERE black, and are now sort of a khaki green with black patches holding it together.
- Flat soled ankle boots. These were my gift to myself last summer. They are gorgeous pthalo/gray Fluevogs. Happy Birthday and Christmas Ephie.

2 pairs heels:
- One pair casual, peep toed, wine colored leather pumps.
- One pair dressier/rain appropriate, 3in heel, black leather w/ olive green lace up. Bought these for our wedding.

1 Teva sandal. I hate the way functional clothing looks. *Sigh*. But it's so...functional.

1 Hiking boot (somewhere in the depths of my closet, covered in dust and cobwebs. I take my kids to the forest wearing boots that I like to look at. It's really silly. No wonder my shoes are falling apart. Note to self: Stop being fussy. The forest fairies do not care what shoes you are wearing.)

2 pair platform sandals:
Grabbed these at a thrift store. Both have cork platforms, one metalic strappy, other w/ black leather band.

1 pair ugly/comfortable house sandal. My mama gave them to me when I was pregnant and they are amaaaaaazingly ugly and comfortable.

2 pair ragged OLD tennis shoes. My feet were the same size when I was 16 as they are now...

I refuse to actually count them, but I work in a very conservative "navy or black suit" field, so shoes are sometimes the only way to have a little style! I too own sky-high heels and wear them daily (even 7 months pregnant) b/c I love them! I have jeweled heels, suede, plain, strappy, retro... you name it, I wear it!

My husband keeps his mouth closed on this topic because I doubt he could count the number of tools in his garage. He has his thing, I have mine!

Grrr. My feet are growing with my pregnancy so I am sad about the amount of shoes that I have that I am unable to wear. But enough about me! :)

Early on in our relationship, my husband *tried* to get me in the habit once of throwing a pair out when I wanted to bring a new pair in. I say he tried, it didn't actually work...but it is a good enough thought/intent. I have more shoes than I actually wear - lots of flats, I am NOT a heel person. As a teacher I am on my feet all day and if the shoes are not comfy - and I mean like walking on air - they can't make it into the regular rotation and collect dust in the closet.

Hey R.-

Shoes are my 'dirty little secret'.

I cannot give you an accurate count as 2 of my daughters have my size feet...and have 'extended' loan for some in my...collection.

**sigh**

For 'medium' size heels...I have probably 20 pairs in a wide variety of colors.

Flat shoes...probably 20 as well...

Boots...4 pairs of 'dress' boots...maybe 10 of shorter boots with varying size heel (flat to a 3 inch heel)

"formal" shoes...strappy sandals...etc...probably 20 plus more in various shades (dyed to match...silver...gold....black...white.........)

Sandals/flip flops...too many to count...

"Activity" shoes...tons of athletic shoes...walking/running/cross...

BUT includes ski boots (X and downhill)...golf shoes...bowling shoes...hiking boots...'big' snow boots...ballet slippers...tap shoes (many styles)...'character shoes'...ballroom...riding boots (4 pair there alone)...

'Sexy shoes'??? Cannot even go there...

OH MY!

I have shocked myself!!

Good will here I come...after I let my daughters 'pick' thru...

Did I mention...I was at the mall today...and I saw........................................................................

LOL

Best luck!

I have what we call an 'Imelda' closet if that tells you anything. It's the baby's closet so one day I'm going to have to give up the space. I just told my husband he needs to build me a closet organizer at that point. Since we use my spicier shoes for play time, he's a happy man with my Imelda closet. :)

Ah, well at 6'1 I own one pair of heels. And I can't walk in them because I never wear them. I'd probably break my ankle if I tried.

I have two pairs of flats that I basically live in.

In the summer I have a few pairs, but I get them from Payless normally so by the end of the season they are trash.

Totally not the typical girl in the shoe department!

LOL These kinds of questions always make me mutter to myself. I am NOT a big shoe person, but my husband (living in his world of make believe) thinks that I am. He truly thinks that I buy too many shoes and have too many shoes, and how can I not possibly have the right shoe for whatever occasion and how can I possibly think that OTHER ladies really have a LOT of shoes when so do I. Get the picture? I DON'T. But he doesn't have anything to compare it to, so he compares it to himself. BAHAHAHAAAA!!

I probably own a grand total of 30 pairs of shoes. This includes my wedding shoes that still sit in the box unworn since our wedding day 15 years ago, along with another 2-3 pairs of shoes bought specifically to match bridesmaids dresses for weddings I have been in since then. The shoes are beautiful, but I never dress like that so never wear the shoes, but refuse to get rid of them because they are perfect. ONE DAY i'll have an occasion to wear them... right?

He mocks me when I say so&so REALLY loves shoes and is always buying them.... he says I do too. Really? Because I hunt for months for a new pair of sandals to wear every spring (and wear them all the time so they are worn out by the end of the season and tossed)?
Geez... can't wait to see how many the rest of you have...

50ish. It's not me, it's my mom. :)

She has a terrible shoe problem, and we wear the same size. Lucky me! She buys shoes constantly, and then gives me her "old" shoes. They've usually only been worn a couple of times.

I only have a few pairs of tennis shoes, and I don't wear heels. The rest are sandals and boots; OMG I LOVE boots!

I donate shoes to the church fairly often simply because a woman can only wear so many shoes.

own vs wear. That's my issue. I have tons of shoes I never wear. THey look great inthe store, I get a great deal, but wear them once because they hurt. I have maybe 10 pair that I actually wear. Unless we're counting flipflops - I have more flip flops than fingers and toes.

I like to only own what I need. I could cut down on some of these shoes I guess. My goal is quality over quantity. The same goes with what I own...I hate clutter!

I have a pair of New Balance tennis shoes I wear every day. I have a pair of black flats/loafers and a pair of blue flats for when I should wear something nicer, like for a wedding or funeral. I have bowling shoes, because I bowl. My husband has tennis shoes, ratty tennis shoes for yard work, black dress shoes, brown shoes and a pair of boots he never wears. He has flip flops and bowling shoes.
So 4 for me, 7 for him. I wear size 11 also and have had foot surgery and knee surgery so I dont get into cute shoes too much.

I have a TON of shoes and I just cleaned out my closet and got rid of a bunch! Shoes are a big weakness of mine. I have those "sexy" heels that I HAD to have as well, probably about 20 pair of them. LOL One pair are silver with a glass 4 inch heel. Never have worn them but, haven't parted with them either. :) I would guess I have about 60 pair of shoes total in my closet. I have built in shoe racks for me and hubby but, took his over long ago. :)

I have bowling shoes! And I don't bowl, now.

My old company had a bowling league. At first the company paid for the shoe rental, but then stopped. To keep the cost down, I went and bought a $25 pair from Academy.

But, I don't work for that company any more and so I don't bowl any more. Though I like to.

As for your question... I have a hard time spending money on shoes unless I really need them. And then they're super practical and boring! I have a hard time spending money on almost anything that's "just for me." I'll go on a clothes shopping spree about once a year when I just can't stand to put on anything in my closet. But that's about it.

Me: probably 10 pair of Old Navy type cheap foam flip flops (we live in Texas and I wear flip flops about 8 or 9 months of the year. I'm wearing them today actuallly. It's 75 degrees outside!) Plus, probably 10 pair of other shoes including boots, Vans, running shoes (that I never use), and dressier shoes. So total of 20 maybe?

My husband: 1 pair work (cowboy) boots and 3 pair of flipflops. He may have a pair of sneakers somewhere. And one pair of nice dress-up shoes (that he never wears). Total: 4 or 5 pair of shoes/flip flops.

Added: I DO have a pair of bowling shoes - they're in my bowling ball bag, so I kind of forgot about them. I used to bowl all the time and renting each time was getting expensive. For $40 or so, I bought a pair and have never had to rent another pair! Still have my ball and shoes - now I just need to get back to the bowling alley!

Had to really think about that--easily over 30, although I probably wear about 6 pair regularly...but you never know what shoes you're going to need someday. Oh--then there are the "summer" ones--currently put away--in the back...so add 8-10.
My shoes are WAY more streamlined now than they were when I "dressed up" every day when I worked FT.
I'm reluctant to get rid of shoes because I do appreciate good quality shoes so it breaks my heart to part with them, because they tend to be pricey.

I gave away over 50 pairs of shoes a couple of years ago. I threw away about the same amount. I was so sad but many of them were just not practical for an overweight grandmother to be wearing to play dates.

But I did love my high heel boots with the silver dangles on the back that made the most wonderful sound when I walked down the isles in college classes. Everyone looked at my legs and feet in them....I miss them so much.
