We're going to Disney World at the end of June. Trying to find a resort or hotel for single mom + 3 kids. I have 2 girls, ages 10 and 13, who can share a bed, and a 10 y.o. son who also needs a bed. I have some health issues and am not so great on sharing a bed. So basically, we need 2 queen (preferably) plus something for my son. He slept on the floor or lousy sleeper beds for our last vacation & says he's not getting the fuzzy end of the lollypop again this year. ;-) Most of the kid suites seem to just have a bed for me plus 2 twins, which leaves a kid w/out a bed.
We always stayed at the Polynesian Resort on the monorail line. SUPER conventient and I could just stay at the hotel the entire time. We LOVE it. It is pricey but worth it.
Not sure about availability, we always booked a year in advance.
There are campground type accommodations at Disney. You might look there. When I was looking online, there were some great deals on the Disney site. You just have to look.
The value resorts will be fine for 4 people, just add a rollaway to the room. There is a small fee, but it will still be cheaper than a moderate. The moderate resorts will have sleeping room for 5, I think, but one of them might be a sofa, I can't remember. The moderate will give you more room, but don't know if it's worth the extra money. We never spend any time in the resorts, so we go with cheaper. They do have family suites at the All Stars, but I don't really know much about them. It might be worth checking into though.
I would try the vacation club resorts on the property. Old Key West and Saratoga Springs. They are on Disney property. We stayed in Old Key West and had booked the one bedroom apartment but were upgraded (for free) b/c there weren't any available. So we stayed in the 2 bedroom. It had a master suite w/king, bedroom w/2 queens and own bathroom, living area had 2 sleeper sofas. Also appealing was the full kitchen w/oven, microwave and fridge. you can look at mousemisers.com for discounts. We love staying on property b/c it's much easier w/kids. but if you want off property you might look into renting a house or condo. Have fun!!
You could ask for a roll away bed (which might be better). Can your children take turns sleeping on the sofa bed if necessary? You might have problems booking right there at Disney World this close to departure. You might be able to stay at a Marriot Courtyard or something similar that would accomodate your needs. Maybe connecting rooms or something which would give you 4 beds.
