I just joined the disney movie club and would like to know if anyone else is apart of it and what the pros and cons are with it. I joined to start collecting the classic disney movies that I loved as a child for my kids. Can anyone give me any details of their experiences with it? Thanks

What can I do next?

I joined the Disney Movie Club when my daughter was a baby for the same reason....to collect the classics. I never had a problem with them at all. We collected all the movies we were under "obligation" for, and even more after that. When we had collected the movies we wanted, we canceled our membership with no pressure from the customer service rep. at all. The only thing you have to watch out for is the "featured movie" in the mailings you will get. If you don't call and tell them you don't want it, they will automatically send it to you and bill you for it. If you do recieve a movie that you don't want, don't open it! Write "return to sender" on it, and they will credit your account. We really enjoyed the movies and had a great experience with the company. Hope you have the same.

I joined a couple of years ago in order to get the classics. The prices of the new movies is not great (you could wait a couple of months and get them cheaper in the stores) but I would buy one at reg price and get another at half off. I didn't cancel after I met my quota just so i could be notified of more classics coming out of the vault. They recently just made me an offer to rejoin which resulted in me getting 7 movies for $22!! I only have to buy 3 more in hte next two years - definitely worth it. I also joined the Disney Rewards and have had no problems with any codes and was able to redeem some points for a great blanket and pillow for my daughter which she loves - gotta love getting something back.

Just make sure you respond to the offers, I ususally do it online, they give you plenty of time.

I joined for the same reason and ended up getting a good library of movies. I did cancel my membership recently though--let me tell you my experience. I fulfilled my membership within the required time frame and then I'd buy a few movies occasionally for b-day, chirstmas gifts, etc. One day I received the "featured title" because I inadvertantly didn't respond to the card in time. I had to send it back on my dime. I was annoyed. Then it happened again. I know I respond to every card I receive (I'm very organized and do it right away.) Again, I had to mail the unwanted movie back. When it happened the third time (I just don't let things fall through the crack--I know I respond every time), I was so fed up that I cancelled. I wondered if they send it sometimes anyway just hoping people won't go to the effort to send it back and the credit card is automatically billed so they get more $$. I don't know. Anyway--I thought the deals were good, it was just a nuisance to have to respond and deal with the unwanted movies.

So far so good, I get an email and a postcard for the featured selections and have never had a problem saying no thanks. I'm down to one movie left in my obligation but I'll probably hang on to the membership anyway. (The next title is Beauty & the Beast BTW.) The only complaint is the new titles are always full price so 19.99 or more but if you do more than one movie you can usually get them at half off we have a big fan on Handy Manny so I'v done all those that way. Also join the movie rewards club to enter your codes from the dvd cases and earn points and sometimes more movies that way.

Every code that I ever tried to put in never worked so I gave up on it. That was my only experience with it. Sorry. Hope others can tell you more.

You might be talking about the movie club to buy movies. Oops. Sorry. I am speaking about the online rewards club.

There are 2 drawbacks.

The first being that you need to respond to their "featured" title selections. What I found annoying is there wasn't consistantcy in the time between mailings. The good news is if you do get a title you don't want, you can send it back for credit.

The other thing I found is that the prices are usually quite a bit more through the club rather than purchasing them in the store. However, when you include your special sign up freebies, it all averages out.

Advantage... you can often find titles at the club that are difficult to find in stores.
