Hi- My husband and I have $1,000,000 worth of college and grad school text books we no longer need (okay, I overestimate the value, but it feels like we spent that much!). How do we get rid of them all? Regular garbage? Recycling? No clue.
Thanks

What can I do next?

Bulletin board at the college if they are not outdated. College bookstore, if they are not out dated. Also Ebay, Craig's list and the like.

I left mine out on the lawn with a sign inviting people to take them for free. Sad thing about text books is that they quickly loose value. I guess publishers and profs need to put out new editions to make money. Some were taken, others I put out with our recycling.

You can donate them. There are many organizations who send them to third world countries for their education since they are quickly outdated with new editions in America. Call Half Price Books or a local college bookstore or library, they usually have information or book drives for those organizations. If the books are relatively new, you may be able to sell some of them back to the bookstore.

I know a mother who just put her kids texts on ebay.. she has gotten rid of most of them.. it is timing though. Put them online (whether craigslist, ebay or see if any school has a list for used texts) around the beginning of a semester!

Amazon.com buys used textbooks. Also, sometimes used book stores will take them.

I would say find out if anyone is still using them. Most text books come out every other year updated. So most text books are obsolete.

Donate them to your local college library

Perhaps this is a redundant reply? Have you tried eBay, Craigslist, Kojiji? You could send notices to local colleges (your alma maters) to post SALE notices on their bookstore bulletin boards?

Good luck.
