I was on it from 2/2007 after my daughter was born until march of this year. I had NO period the entire time. I am off of it because Doctor told me to take a break. I just got my first period in almost 4 years (includes my pregnant time) in August. It was a normal flow and how my body felt was normal to pre depo time. I am not sure if I will go back on it. I don't want any more kids (have a 13 year old too) so either hubby will get a vasectomy or I will do IUD. I know I thought I was pregnant during that stop time but I was told could take up to 3 months or so for period to come back to normal.

its normal. ur period basically slows to a drizzle that can last almost 2 weeks. it can stop completely. it'll come back when u stop the shot, give up to 6 months to regulate.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Depo!! I've been on it since 1999, and have never had a period or any of the pre-menstrual awfulness!!

Seems as tho your body has regulated itself and you may not have any more periods!

Love it... the only concern my doc has is osteoporosis, so I'm tested for it every two years.

enjoy!

Hi, Amber:
It takes a long time to have your body readjust. Each person is different, but
expect 6 to 8 months.
Be patient. Protect yourself, if you don't want to get pregnant until the period returns.

Good luck. D.

I was on Depo twice and both times I was period free - didn't have one for a couple years until I stopped receiving the shot. It is normal - this type of birth control puts your body into what is described as " a resting state"

Stopping the period is one of the side effects of the Depo. When I was on it I had a period once every 3 months. I would get it about a week or so before I was due to get my next shot. It can also cause tenderness in breasts (so that you aren't supprized if that happens), and cause you to have lighter periods. I would have a period for 4-5 days instead of my normal 7-8 days. You do have to make sure that you are 'OK' with it changing your cycle like that, but me personally, I loved that I didn't have to deal with aunt flo as much.
