Hi J.,
My oldest daughter was 9 months old before she started crawling. She rolled and scooted wherever she wanted to go. At 11 months she started walking. She is now 6 and is healthy, happy and bright.

Mine turned 9 mos. on the 15th and still no crawling... DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT! I hardly think they'll cross the stage to receive their high school diploma on their hands and knees! :-)

Hi J.
My two boys were around 7 1/2 months and my little girl who is now 7 1/2 months is trying to scoot (backwards) and rolls around. She doesn't seem to have direction at the moment but if I leave her on the floor she is in a completely different place (usually the otherside of the room) but the time I get back in there.
However I know some moms whos kids didn't crawl til much later and apparently (so my mom tells me) I was really lazy and didn't move around much at all - I was just content with the toys around me. I guess we all develop differently??
I hope this helps.

My little girl started crawling at 5 and half months old, but all babies are different. Some babies are content to sit and observe, so they choose not to crawl. My brother never crawled and went straight to walking at 9 months old. I think the average age for a baby to start to crawl is around 8 months old.

I have three children, 7, 4 and 2. My 7 year old crawed and walked late (8 1/2 months and 17 1/2 months respectively. My other two begin crawling right at 6 months. With my oldest, I didn't give her enough tummy time and I am certain that affected her developmental delays. When I put her on her tummy and she cried, I instantly picked her up. It is important to give your baby enough tummy time, so she will develop her muscles and her eye strength. Talk to your pediatrician if you have any concerns. She /He might even have some suggestions for exercises you can do at home if your baby is not beginning to crawl yet.

There is not standard time when all babies crawl. My neighbor's baby crawled at 4 months, and my baby didn't crawl until 8 months old. Hope that helps.

My oldest son was 6 months, my youngest son was almost 11 months. All babies are different, so don't judge your child according to others, even their own siblings. My friend who is a developmental pediatrician, says that there is no cause for concern until a baby is 12 months old and not crawling. At that point, she wants to check out the baby to be sure there is nothing physically keeping them from crawling. She has seen children as old as 15 months not crawling, who have nothing wrong with them, and then they just take off. Take your child to the doctor at any age if you are concerned there may be a problem(a mother's intuition is very powerful!!). Other than that, rest assured that she will develop in her own time. Hope this helps!

Emily should be REALLY gettin' it by next month. Over the next thirty days, place Emily on her belly, blanketing your floor if necessary. Place lots of stimulants (colorful and/or noisy rattles) around her. It should look more like pulling herself with her arms, reaching. Most television should be channel 8. The friendly voices, songs and noises will help stimulate her positively. It sounds like Emily will sit up best at 8 months and will crawl best around 9 months. Another thing that might help is google Developmental Milestones and choose Emily's age group.

Crawling is not a milestone. My son never crawled, instead he shuffled around on his bum. Then he walked, and finally crawled. I always checked with his Dr. and was reassured that crawing is not something to gage development by. Your baby will crawl when she is ready and if she thinks there is a better way to get around she may not crawl at all!

I have had 5 children. The first crawled at about 1 year. Funny thing was he "scooted" like an inch worm at about 7 or 8 months. Never really crawled much cuz about a week after I saw him crawl, he walked! Second crawled at about 6 months. He's really active. Third at about 8 months, Fourth at 10 and same with the Fifth.

I think that the later they crawl, the better for the mom's and dad's who have to chase them all around!

7 months was the "army crawl"
8 1/2 months on all 4's
9 1/2 months very fast and can stand for a few seconds by himself before he falls over

No need to worry about your 7 month old. Just make sure she is hanging out on her tummy!!!!! She will spot something she wants and go for it weather it's rolling to get there or the army crawl.

My grandson who lives with me turned 6 months old on Feb 13th. He has been scooting on his belly for 3 weeks and has been crawling on his hands and knees since Feb 15th. You just want to keep in mind that all babies do things at their own pace; some sooner, some later.

My son is almost 20 months old now. I thought he would never crawl when he was little. Finally, at 9 months old he got the hang of it overnight. Then, 3 months later he started walking. I figure that we just held him too much and spoiled him by giving him the toys he wanted instead of making him crawl to get them. Hang in there. It will happen eventually.

My son didn't "crawl" until after he walked. He did this thing where he pulled himself around by his elbows and hands on the floor dragging his legs. Yes, walking and crawling are important landmarks, but my son walked at 13 months, and has turned into a beautiful, intellegent 20 y/o man in the Airforce who always succeeded at any sports he ever attempted.

I truly believe too many moms compare each other, and their children, when they should just let their children progress at their own pace. If they don't walk by 2, or never crawl, the pediatrician will tell you there is a problem.

I think babies crawl later nowadays because of putting babies on their backs to go to sleep. Certainly don't worry about it, but do make sure she gets plenty of tummy time for muscle development.

My sone was exactly 7 months. When he started crawling, he could crawl quickly and efficiently. He never had a practice time, just waited until he could crawl well.

My daughter was about 9.5 months. She fumbled about for a bit, and was efficient at crawling at about 10 months.

6 months, but every child is different. We were at a friends house this weekend, and they had a friend that came over with their 8 month old little boy, and he was still not crawling yet. She did inform me that he spends alot of time in his bouncer! They need to be on the floor to learn how to crawl!

My son NEVER crawled!! He went from nothing to trying to walk. He did this bear crawl thing because he didn't want to be on his knees. And even that he only did for about a month or two. He was about 10 months old when he started walking. Average age is 6-7 months but that is just the average. Lots of kids take much longer!! My son wanted to walk so bad because of his older brother. I bet your daughter will be walking sooner than you think and crawling will breeze by. The second is almost always in a rush to keep up! Hold her while you can!!

My first child was 7 months or so. My second child was 9 months. She was very lazy and was very content just rolling around on the floor. BUT she is extremely smart now. She is 3 and knows all of her ABC's, numbers, colors, shapes, and can count backwards and knows 1-10 in Spanish. My last child was about 7-8 months. Every child is different, and there is nothing wrong with that.

My little girl is about to be 7 months and she started crawling about 2 weeks ago. We worked w/ her a lot though. Try holding her legs together and let her do the crawling part with her hands. My sister told me to try that... so we did that w/ my little girl and 3 days later she was crawling! I have a little cousin who is 13 months...and he only army crawls around...but he walks. All babies are different.
