I use that bubbly contact solution that takes all the protein off your contacts and makes them last longer where the lenses are suspended in the solution... it says to keep it in the solution for at least 6 hours.. does anyone know what happens if you wait just a little less than 6 hours? Mine fell out in my sleep last night and was dry so I put it in and I just started a new pair and can't afford to waste a contact.. my head is KILLING me and I can't find my dang glasses so I'm seriously considering popping the sucker in 30 min early.. any suggestions?!
I usually only let mine soak for about 15 minutes while I'm in the shower. Been doing it that way for 5 years with no problems.
unless your contacts are consistently cloudy, maybe you should consider using regular saline solution most of the time and use the protein stuff only every so often. Or at the very least keep some regular saline solution on hand to rinse the other off with or to use in this kind of an instance.
Don't do it! It burns like you wouldn't believe. If I fall asleep in my contacts or don't have time to clean them I use the other rinsing cleaner(Renu, I think you mean) that does not burn for that day and just be sure to clean with the "bubbly" (Clear Care) cleaner the next time.
My husband uses that too. I would wait. If I recall correctly, that process uses H3O (peroxide) to clean them. After it 'does its thing' it is plain saline....but before it is done, it is NOT. I would wait.
What my husband has done, (well actually, since I do the shopping, I did it) is get another vial. If one is still "cleaning" he just uses another pair/set of lenses. And when he takes THEM out at night, he can stick them in the 2nd vial for cleaning.

The Clear Care solution needs time to clean and disinfect your lenses. During the 6-hour soak, the solution is neutralized and becomes a gentle saline solution—making it safe for you to insert your lenses. If you don't wait, and insert your lenses too early, you'll feel burning and stinging. "
I've tried putting mine in too early by an hour (maybe less) and it burned.
Absolutely nothing will happen to you with the minor exception that they may be a tiny bit cloudy today. If they are, just do a quick little rub with the same solution before putting them back in.
BURN!! It burns like I can't even describe. You can try it. . . but you might regret it.
I would go and buy regular saline solution and have that as a back up in case you need to rinse of the burning stuff and then pop them in your eye. I think I did that once and it was fine.
I use the same stuff you do. It's not like the other stuff because of the chemicals. I would wait the 30 minutes. Problems with your eyes would be a lot worse than a headache! Good luck!
