Anyone know of great childcare that can handle children with autism and has great reputation? I'm a nursing student and I have to figure some things out before I totally commit myself. Thanks! Oh, I live in 76112 (fort worth (east)

I know a great home daycare, my sons go there, she and her 30 yr. old son, keep several special needs kids, including a downs syndrome, a shaken baby and a few who are not special needs - but they are great, I thank God for them every day. They are in Arlington, though. Thought I would respond in case you work near Arlington.

Hi I.,

I live in East Fort Worth also. My son goes to Childtime Learning Center. I'm not sure if they have any experience with children with autism, but you might call and find out. They are located on Morrison Dr and Ederville Rd.

I have a nanny who has experience with Autism. She is wonderful. I love her to death, but lately I have been thinking about quiting my job and staying home full time. I wouldn't do this unless I knew she was set up with another job. She is like a Grandmother to all my kids, so trust me when I say that she will be sorely missed, but if you would prefer someone come to your home to watch your child, she would love the opportunity. Plus you are way closer to where she lives than I am. The cost of gas for her is really taking it's toll on her. The opportunity to work closer to home would be great for her. Contact me if you want her name & number.

You might check into the Fllint Academy in Arlington. I have heard mixed reviews, but they are still relatively new and may have worked through the early issues. Are you working with the school district at all? They should be offering ppcd or prek placements. And, girl, go search yahoo for some autism support groups. As more of us seem to be involuntarily joining the autism mommies group, there are more of these popping up. You need some friends who are going through what you are. Your old friends will be there, but they don't know how to relate like those of us going through this. I actually had someone tell me the other day that she thinks God is trying to teach the parents something when he gives us autistic kids-almost like a punishment. Are you kidding me?

God bless! Feel free to email me directly.

i just wanted to comment about the Flint Academy in Arlington. my attorney's PDDNOS son went there and it was a really bad experience, including unqualified teachers and poor financial management on the part of the owner. based on everything he has told me about it, i wouldn't send my son if it were free.

Have you tried the PPCD PreK program at the local elementary school?
