Hi Moms!

I was wondering if any of you know of a gym/facility that is clean, membership is pretty cheap, can accomodate working Mom's schedules pretty well--I'm a Mom of 3...and I need some time ALONE..ME TIME...I just had my third baby 4 mths ago..and I'm at that point..where I'm feeling I might go insane. Juggling everything has been a pretty hectic. I currently live in San Lorenzo, work in San Francisco. Lack of sleep is making it HARD to function. I just want to get away for a couple hours where I can keep myself sane, feel good for a couple ours. I'm SOOO EXHAUSTED MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY. I look tired! Geesh. Where can I find a place to work out...and just have...FREE TIME......thanks to all in advance!

What can I do next?

I used to go to the Stonestown YMCA in San Francisco. Good, cheap childcare. Decent classes and equipment. Locker rooms a bit yucky. Fairly cheap rates. Good hours. Pool. Normal people (not a meat market). I'd recommend it. Hoping to get back there myself after baby number 2 comes next month.

Best,
C.

You might also want to check out 24 Hour Fitness. Although they aren't actually open 24 hours a day, you should be able to find a time that's convenient for you to go, and the branches I've tried have been very clean.

you can get a lot from a ymca membership as some have things going on for your children as well as you - they have financial assistance memberships

I just became a memember of Bally in San Leandro. At the time they said they were having a "special"-haha. Well now there is one you can join for 9.99 plus a $10 card fee then it is 29.99 a month-you have to put the sign up fee and first and last month to start. I usually workout at night when my husband is home so I don't have to use day care. I do month to month, however they have where you can sign up for a year. It is a little cheaper and includes the child care. I think my friend paid about $400 for the year, but they didn't have the 9.99 sign up fee-it was $45 last month. It has been nice for me to get away and have me time. You could come do classes with me and my friend-haha. We have just taken up spin classes!!

Oh and by the way. The child care if you did want to use it has a place for them to do homework and they even have use of the internet and computers for the children and just stuff to play with.

Hi Cel L

Does your workplace have any kind of "deal" with a gym? I work for Alta Bates Summitt Medical Center in Berkeley. They have a deal with 24 Hour Fitness -- employees could join without paying any joining fee and then pay only $25/month to use the gym.

I am limited to only the 24 hour fitness in Berkeley, but if there is one near where you live or work -- you might check it out. Ask the gym if they have any "corporate" deals for different companies. Also ask your human resources dept. at work if they have established any such "corporate deals" with any health clubs. 24 hour fitness is nice because they are everywhere. good luck. R.

I joined 24 Hour Fitness, and it's really reasonable. Sometimes you can negotiate for even lower membership rates, or they have time-critical discounts you're not aware of. They have lots of classes, good weights, etc. I haven't tried their childcare yet, but they have that as well (I hear it's a bit too much television, but we're always balancing pluses and minuses, aren't we?). I'm digging it. good luck!
