Can Anyone Recommend a Quality Lasting Scented Candle?

Store bought, home based business, homemade - I don't care! I love candles and would love a brand of candles where the scent lasts.

My history with scented candles is the top always smells awesome but as it gets closer to the middle the scent wears off.

I'm not too picky about the scent, just the quality. But if you must know, I stay away from the flowery scents, and I'd rather not get any food scents although a light citrus is nice, so that leaves me with the nature scents like the musks, bamboo shoots, fresh linen sort of scents.

What can I do next?

I only buy Yankee Candles. However, I don't like the votives for scents. The throw isn't strong enough. I use the small jars in my bathroom since it is small and the medium and large jars for the other rooms. The wax tarts have a nice throw to them as well.

Right now I'm on a great smelling candle from Anthropologie, it was a gift. Delicate flowery smell in a lovely glass container I will use for something after it's gone.

I like Yankee Candles.
They have a good variety.
I don't like all of them but I have a dozen or so scents that I like during various times of the year.
Apple scented or pumpkin spice in the fall
Anything pine scented around Christmas (Christmas Cookie is good too)
Lilac and some flowery scents in the spring
Coconut and fruity scents (peach, strawberry and watermelon were very good) in the summer
Vanilla anything is great any time of the year.

I use Scentsy and LOVE it. I burned Cider Mill in my house on Sunday for about 5 hours, and when I went home for lunch yesterday it still smelled amazing. I love it. Though it's not an actually candle...

First of all keep in mind a really good scented candle, is not meant to be burned for hours.

They are made to last for days even while unlit after use.

For example a 20 hour candle, if burned correctly, you burn for 15 to 20 minutes, Blow it out and it will be fragrant for to 5 days usually more. .

So this candle can last for a very long time.

A 40 to 60 hour candle can last for a year..

I guess you can tell I have spent a lot of time around candle. It was one of the products I used to purchase and sell at the upscale store I worked for.

Trapp
AROMATIQUE
Votivo
Diptyque

These are all great candles. You may pay a bit more, but they will last for a very long time.

If you just love lit candles. Purchase good candles that are not scented, but only use your scented candles as needed. This was they will last a lot longer.

I also really like Scentsy. Their scents last a long time. But like Mom2KCK said below, they aren't candles. If you are willing to try a candle alternative, you'd be amazed at all the scents they have. Good luck!

THE BEST I have found is the WalMart "Mainstays" brand of candle. I have lit them near the bottom and still smells as GOOD as the day I bought them. I also keep one on the stove that is the "remnants" of candles past, no wick where the heat warms the wax and fills the house will a WONDERFUL scent while running the "self clean" feature on the oven. My personal favorites are the Hazelnut, Vanilla and Pecan. I DO NOT suggest the Pumpkin, all pumpkin candles are too waxy scented to me. I currently have one on right now and one on each floor of my house fills my home with a wonderful scent that is not over bearing for the ENTIRE candle.

WoodWick candles are simply amazing!

You can get them from the WoodWick website, but they can also be found at Hallmark, Amazon, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and lots of other places.

Partylite.....it is an older home base business but it hasnt been the number one candle company for 40 years without just cause. I will admit that I was a consultant but only because I LOVE the product. The melts that they sell, one package the scent lasts for a total of 120 hours. The wax is paraffin and soy so if your kids or dogs take a bite it causes no harm (had dog eat a whole dozen tealights once). The votives burn completely and do not get stuck in the holders and as you stated the scent is the whole way through the candle not partially. I currently have a pumpkin scent jar candle burning and have been burning it all week. My house smells like fresh pumpkin pie.

Look up Country Boy Candles. He is a local man in Houston who makes them in his garage. He home delivers. Great fragrances. Cheap prices and I think he has a website. I was there on conference 2 summers past. He had a vendor booth.

Anthropologie (the clothing store) makes the best candle around but it is expensive ($25-28 for a large one in a gorgeous jar). I received one as gift and it has lasted almost a year. Now I'm hooked. Yankee Candle never seemed to be strong enough for my needs. I think it depends on how tall your ceilings are and how much area you want to cover. Scentsy scents wore off after a couple of weeks.

i'm so with you. i love a great quality scented candle, and prefer that it not be a food flavor. gold canyon and yankee are both great, but soooooo expensive. i request them as gifts or buy them if i find 'em at a discount store, but i'm just too cheap to pay those silly prices.
michael's has a decent brand, just called sensibly 'scented candle.'<G> they smell nice all the way down! i'm especially fond of the winter fragrances.

I would highly suggest you check out Scentsy. Scentsy is an alternative candle. By that i mean they use a warmer (beautiful quality warmers) and the wax is melted be the heat of a lightbulb. The wax is a food quality wax.

Scentsy has over 80 scents to choose from.and they are always coming out with new fragrances. You will average anywhere from 60-80 hours of melt time per bar and you can control the strength of the fragrance simply by how many cubes you melt at a time.

Check them out at www.flamelesswarmer.com If you have any questions please let me know and I will be more than happy to help.

I wanted a quality candle with a long lasting scent. So far, the best I found was from "Pure Integrity Candles." It is 100% soy and the scent is very strong in a small room, depending on which scent you buy. I found them on the internet at www.pureintegrity.com. They come in various sizes, including big frosted glass jars with pretty wooden lids.

I also love Trapp candles that you can buy at various florist shops. I love their "Mediterranean Fig!" It doesn't smell like figs. It's just heavenly.

Both companies make top quality candles, but they are expensive. Then again, they last a long time and burn nicely, so they're worth the price.

I love partylite and yankee candles. I burn whatever scent my allergies will allow. I have candles from years ago and they still burn and smell good. I just stocked up on yankee candles. They have buy 2 get 2 free every year around fall. I like bath and body works too.

MIA BELLA by far! We love candles and have them all over our home. We prefer these over Yankee Candles. Reasons: they are clean burning, the scent lasts all the way to the bottom and they last forever. Every fall, my husband requests I buy the Fireside candle from Mia Bella. We can light it, blow it out in 30 minutes or so and we will smell the candle for days. They are top quality candles and prices run about the same as the Yankee Candles. You can go to their website at www.scent-team.com
