I am attending a family funeral later this week and I need advice about my 15 month old at the calling hours and funeral. My grandmother and parents said they would like to have him at both events. They arranged a babysitter to be on-call for the actual funeral service so I am not worried about that part as much.
What tips do you have for making it through calling hours since that will be the biggest bulk of time? I need your help!!!

I have found people find it a welcome relief from the heavy grief of the day. So many family members come that normally wouldnt see your boy and it is a good time. As long as he is rested and fed, don't worry. If he laughs and has a good time, most people will appreciate the joy of a child and helps them remember the joy of life! My blessings to you!
A. my MIL died April 22nd. My 15 mo daughter and my 2 mo old son both went to the funeral and the calling hours. My daughter wore me out at the calling hours which was 4 hours long. My suggestion is bring him if you must but be prepared to run around a lot. Having the children there was a comfort to my hubby's family they wanted my children there. Just make sure you have the ability to keep him occupied. Wear flat shoes! Congrats on the second one be ready for an adventure!

I recently attended my hubby's grandmother's funeral.
My daughter was about 19 months and my son about 8.
With my daughter, my MIL chased her the whole time, I brought her snacks, toys, but ultimately she's Mia the explorer and we took turns watching her.
It was a long day for all of us but she enjoyed the attention and it made people think of new life instead of the terrible loss.
