So my nephew is to be confirmed next month. For school he has to do a project where he will be interviewing his sponsor. He needs to come up with two questions to ask his sponsor. Any ideas? My SIL said they are coming up blank.......
Thanks!

What can I do next?

What is the primary reason you wanted to step up and share your faith with someone?

Is there anything you thought of as unrealistic or particularly challenging about Catholicism when you were my age, that you embrace or have a better understaning of now? What is it?

Catholics are raather notoriously shy about evangilizing. What are some ways a young person can share his faith without automatically isolating himself? Or is that always a risk?

Congratulations to your nephew!!!! I love teaching confirmation classes! I always explain that they are now warriors for Christ. I would ask what is ultimate goal would be for your nephew and how he plans to aid him along the way to get to that goal. I would also ask how God has impacted his life and what would he recommend your nephew do to gain an even stronger relationship with God through this sacrament. I would also ask the sponsor if he has been to confession recently and if he would mind going with your nephew the week before he receives confirmation.

What does it mean to be a Catholic to you?
What is your hope for me after confirmation? Do you hope that I grow closer to God or is it your hope that the teachings I have recieved from the church will give me a strong foundation in my life? Hope that helps. :)

ETA: I misread this as 'communion'. My apologies. While many of these questions really are awesome, I think they are pretty intense even for an older child. I stand by my first question suggestions, although my estimate of the age of your nephew was way off! Congratulations to your nephew. Its a major accomplishment.

Oy vey! These are all awesome but I've got to say, I don't think a 7 year old will understand the questions he's asking, much less the answers!

Maybe he should ask "what's your favorite holiday and why?"
Or
"Which is your favorite psalm and why?"

Congrats!!

I would ask him what his plans are after confirmation? As in how will he continue to show Gods love.

What will/would you tell those a year younger to do to prepare when it's their turn.

Why are you still Catholic? What makes you choose to be Catholic today?

When I was working on my Masters Degree in Theology (from a Catholic school) I had to read "Why I am Still Catholic." It was a series of essays written by adult Catholics talking about their faith and why they chose to be Catholic. I was a very powerful experience.

I was happy to see this question today. I just got back from the NCCW (national council of catholic women) conference in Myrtle Beach.
my 2 questions would be

1. how is a sponsor different from a godparent?
2. What is the best part of being catholic?

these are 2 questions that a child would need / like to know the answers to. and they are questions that do not require a yes/no answer so the conversation will go on for a bit.
