I have a bumbo seat for my son and wanted to put it in the tub. I was just wondering if anyone had tried it and if the seat was ok afterwards. Id like to be able to use it in the tub and out. Thanks!

edit: he has a sling but wiggles up a storm in it! he loves his seat so my thinking was that he could sit in it while im washing him and not wiggle all over the place! lol

What can I do next?

I actually used my bumbo seat in the tub, put less water in the tub so it doesn't float and squeeze it out after. We used it every night for about 6 months in the tub and it is fine now. I know it is against the recommendations and could be hazardous but if you use common sense and supervision (like most things) then you shouldn't have any probs.

The reason tub seats are a hazard is because stupid moms might think that you can just leave baby bathing unattended and in that case, they are not safe.

If you are a reasonably intelligent person and you don't leave your baby in water alone, they are not a risk at all.

I used ours in the tub! It was the only way I could bathe my infant daughter and toddler son together. It worked great! Ours never absored any water, but it did float if you put too much water in the tub!

I wouldn't. They aren't meant to be submerged in water, and I guaruntee it will absorb water, and be ruined. The moisture will cause molding, and ruin the foam!

I think it would float? Or maybe absorb too much water? I don't know. I wouldn't do it though. We have an infant tub made by Fisher Price and it works really well. My oldest is 3.5 and she can still sit it in some what comfortably.

they make seats that actually suck to the bottom of the tub and they sit in it. I would think the bumbo would eventually break downs.

I used the bumbo in the tub and it was fine afterwards. I made sure to dry it after each use. It was much easier to give my daughter a bath and she enjoyed it more. I was just sure to watch her carefully. Hope that helps!

My daughter would not sit in one (she would arch out of it). My nephew loved his. I believe it is not supposed to be used anywhere but a flat surface (the floor...not a table). I would think the wetness would cause it to be slick...I wouldn't use it in the tub.

I used mine in the tub for a few months, the only problem i had is it was easy for her to tip it over when she started leaning so i would have to hold it down. Its still in perfect shape and smells like baby soap =]

Any kind of tub seat isn't recommended. They are a hazard. Any baby that can't sit up unassisted should have mom's hand on them at all times in my opinion.

I used and absolutely loved this:

for both my kids. You can easily find it in blue in stores. We used it till they could sit up on their own in the tub. It absorbs water so they stay nice and warm and it drains and dries very easily.

What I did was get a small laundry basket and put a towel on the back so the criss cross wouldn't hurt my boys back. He loved it!! He loved to throw his out of the basket and into the tub. This way I also got a place to put his bath toys when he was done.
