Does anyone have an easy way to break their candy canes into tiny pieces and turn their oreos into fine crumbs?

Zip lock bag and a rolling pin has always been my method.
There's less clean up than using a food processor and the bag keep everything contained.
Place them in a large ziploc, press out the air and go to town with a rolling pin or a can of soup! I usually do this on top of a plastic or wood cutting board to keep the noise down.
You can use a food processor, or put them in a ziplock bag, squeeze out all the air and shut it very tight, and pound them with a meat tenderizer/ rolling pin, anything hard... get your frustrations out!

We always did the ziplock bag and rolling pin.
Place Oreos in a freezer bag and roll a can (like green beans or corn unless you have a hand rolling pin) over them to the desired crumbs you want & with the candy canes you can break them that way or if you need larger pieces just break them with you hands while their in the baggie so you don't get sticky. I do the above as I make a lot of Cheesecakes every year and do it for the graham cracker crust bottom & sprinkle on top for decorations.

Put whatever you want to break into a Ziplock bag, then whack it with a mallet. Keeps all the pieces together and not flying around your kitchen.

do you have a Trader Joe's supermarket near you. They actually sell oreo with candy crumbs in the cookies. I usually put them out for Christmas.
I've tried the small food processor for the candy canes and it works ok, but you do end up with quite a bit of "powder". And depending on what you're making you could throw the powder into the mix if its for peppermint bark and then sprinkle the chunks on top.
I just found this year, in the Christmas candy isle, a bag of crushed peppermint at the grocery store!! It's 20 oz and only $1.99. I used it last night for my peppermint bark and it's perfect....
I use the rolling pin over the pieces in a ziploc bag, as others have mentioned, and it works like a charm. And if you have a little one wanted to help in the kitchen, this is a great job for them.
I do what Shaun C. suggested.
Put the object in a zip-lock bag and close, squeezing out most of the air (but not necessary making a vacuum-pak). Place the bag on a cutting board on the kitchen counter. Then use a rubber mallet or small hammer to mash it.
If you don't have a food processor, (I don't!), I always just use a blender for oreos. I melt a little butter and put that in with the oreos and they blend up very fine. I always do this to use the oreos as a crust for cheesecakes!
The Pampered Chef Food Chopper is awesome for cookies. My guess is that it's also work very well for candy canes, but I'm not positive.
