My husband had a dessert at his work and said the lady called it "Dirt". A creme filling and crushed oreos on top. Anyone familiar with this? I have seen the kids version for Halloween, is this the same? I would like to make it for Christmas if anyone knows the recipe. Thanks Moms!

Hello!! What you can do is put fake poinsetta's on top of the 'dirt'. Also you can make 'sand', use the vanilla oreo's instead of chocolate. Then you put those little umbrellas on top.

I make this all the time it is my step-mom's recipe all the kids love it.
1 pkg oreos
1 8oz cream cheese
1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c of melted butter
2 8oz of coolwhip
2 small pkg of choc instant pudding

Crush oreos into fine pieces (I use a food processer)set aside 3/4 cups of crushed oreos for later. Pour the rest of the oreos into a 13x9 pan and smooth out then pour over melted butter. Bake at 350 for a couple of minutes just to make the crust.
Mix cream cheese powdered sugar and 8 oz of cool whip together.
In seperate bowl make pudding according to pkg.
Then layer the cream cheese mixture over the crust.
Then layer the pudding over the cream cheese.
Then spread 8 oz of cool whip over the pudding mixture. Then sprinkle your 3/4 c of oreos over the top and then chill.
Hope this helps.

The one i know about is one my mom used to make and i make for my boys now. you make cupcakes and when they come out of the oven you put just a little bit of icing just enough to make the crushed oreos stick and then push a gummy worm into the center where it is partly sticking out. I also found this one not sure if this is what u are talking about or not

Cream butter, cream cheese, sugar all together- set aside.
Mix pudding and milk together and then add cool whip (use large bowl).
Add cream cheese, mix.
Fill in a flower pot, starting with pudding mixture, cookie crumbs, worms. End with cookie crumbs so it looks like dirt in the pot. Refrigerate 1 or 2 hours. Insert some plastic flowers, if desired, so it looks like the flowers are growing in the pot. Top off with gummi worms.

Hi M.,

We made this for my SIL's wedding shower and it was a hit. We put the desserts in flower pots and served it with little garden shovels. Maybe you can do this Christmas-style!

Here's the recipe I used:

Dirt Dessert

1 - 20 oz pkg oreo cookies
1 - 8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened
2 - 3 oz pkg French Vanilla instant pudding
3 1/2 c. milk
1 - 12 oz carton Cool Whip
(added chocolate cake layer)

Blend cookies in blender til they resemble potting soil. Set aside. In large bowl beat cream cheese til light. Beat in dry pudding mix. Slowly stir in milk, combining well. Fold in whipped topping. In 8 x 10 inch clay flower pot or large bowl, alternate layers of cookie crumbs and cream cheese mixture, ending with thick layer of cookies.

Merry Christmas,
A.

Here's a recipe for the "Dirt" dessert:
http://www.greatpartyrecipes.com/dirt-dessert-recipe.html
Another great one with Oreo's I am making and putting into little decorative containers and handing out with gifts is simple and good too!
Just take a pkg. of oreo's. Put them into a Ziplock bag and crush well. Then mix a softened pkg. of cream cheese with the Oreo crumbs well. Roll into bite-size balls(like a gumball), and put onto wax-paper and into the fridge atleast 30 minutes. In the meantime on a double-boiler, melt some white chocolate bark, and reg. chocolate bark seperately. Take each ball and dip into the white choc. and lay onto wax paper again, then drizzle them with the dark chocolate. They make really pretty and yummy little candies!
Just thought I'd pass along!

Sounds a bit like devilled eggs. Separate the cookie top from the white stuff , crush the cookies and the white stuff (there will be something you will need to add to the white stuff for smoothness - then there it is!

Hi, While I do not have the recipe (I am sure one will appear for you, I do have a suggestion for presentation. My friend uses a lovely glazed flower pot(sized for the amount of "dirt") and put some plastic flowers in it. It is so cute and a wonderfully creative presentation.

It is called "dirt dessert". I have a recipe for it.

1-12oz. Cream cheese

1 tsp vanilla
1 cup powdered sugar
1-12oz cool whip
1 pkg. Double-stuffed oreos

mix cream cheese and powdered sugar. Prepare instant pudding as directed on box. Mix pudding, cool whip, and vanilla.
Combine both mixtures (all ingredients). Crush oreos. Spread 1/2 of cookies on bottom of dish. Pour in the mixture. Spread another layer of cookies, mixture, etc,; ending with cookie sprinkles on top.
