I'm looking for a new car and I'm very interested in the RAV4 & the Honda Civic Sedan. Has anyone bought either of these cars recently, & if so, what kind of deal did you get? My husband is out of town, and I'm having to do all the negotiating and so far I feel like the dealers are just trying to take advantage of me. So I thought if some of you could give me an idea of the prices you paid for these 2 cars, & the options you have on your cars, then I can be better prepared & know what to offer. I want to buy the car this week if I can find a good deal. Thank you in advance for your help.

If I were you, with the gas prices where they are, and if I were needing a new car right now, I would go straight to the Honda Civic Hybrid!!!!! Its comparable to the Toyota Prius. My mom has one of those and she gets roughly 48 miles a gallon! It really is an awesome car!! I think they cost around $24,000, but they will have a nice resale value! That or the toyota prius would be good choices in my opinion!! Good Luck!

Hi D.,
I bought my Rav4 in 2006, fully loaded, brand new, sun roof, third row seat, side step bars, etc. It was about $24K. It wasn't easy to find one with the third row seat at the time, but we knew we had to have it with five kids. We searched alot of dealers online to compare prices, but that was in Cali, right before we moved out here, where there are alot more dealers. I absolutely love it and it gets great gas mileage.
Mine is a 4 cylinder and has good power, but if you want to make sure have great power when you need it, get the 6 cylinder, but just know that the 4 cylinder will get better gas mileage.
Don't let any dealer push you around. If you have decent credit and a down or trade in, you have the upper hand.
We almost walked out because they didn't want to give us what we wanted for our trade in, which was a year old Kia Sedona and we didn't owe anything on it. We researched the car we wanted and we knew what our trade in was worth. Knowledge is power. If the deal doesn't feel right, tell them you will think about it and walk out. Dealers are desperate right now and sales people can be so manipulative and make you feel inferior. I really recommend getting your own financing before you go to the dealer. Their interest rates are ridiculously higher. We bought a Scion TC and got a 6.2% rate through our credit union two months before we bought our Rav4, which we financed through the dealer because we knew in a month or so we would pay it off when we sold our house and their rate was 13%!!!
Good Luck!!!

My son bought a new Honda accord from Kevin Fitzgerald at Vandergriff Honda on I-20. He is a Christian and goes to my church -Pantego Bible Church. He has a young family and seems to be very down to earth. Go online under cars.com, look at consumer reports and do your homework. Find out what is a good price then go in with your facts. It is hard to find out the price -since we don't know the options you want. However, you can find that out if you go online and do some research. If you go see Kevin, tell him the Hadad's sent you and to give you a good deal!

Jerry's of Weatherford is one of my favorite clients. It is an auto group, so they have "seven brands one location" Durant Toyota is part of the group. I have sent 3 of my friends to go see them, and they were all treated like royalty. Check out their website, they really do have a large selection. www.duranttoyota.com

If you want to go out there, then let me know and I will tell you who to see. I guarantee you that if I were in the market to get a new car- this is where I would go.

I haven't purchased those cars but we recently purchased from carmax and loved it. It was so much easier than the dealerships. No haggling. No silly games between salesman and sales "manager." We will always use carmax.

I bought a car recently and my best advice is to get as many on-line quotes as possible from the internet fleet manager at several dealerships. I asked for a drive out price that included everything that is on the particular vehicle you are looking for. This is really the one way you can compare prices from dealer to dealer. I also did my homework on site like Edmunds.com. Good luck!
