I have several church talk tapes and a few kids music tapes that I would like to preserve and be able to use more easily, some of which are unavailable on CD. Is it possible to get these transfered to CD, as you would with VCR tapes?

Thanks!
D.

The way I had mine done is not "professional" but it worked for me. I recorded it again using my digital recorder, then I get the file into my computer and burn it to CD.

Hi D.,

Yes, it is possible. Fry's electronics sells a unit called a "Tape 2 PC" and it costs about $169........ there are also many companies and people out there that perform this service. Most of the services are not cheap, so it might be worth the investment if you have several to do. Good luck.

Technically, if you have a tape player that has line out (e.g. walkman with earphone), you can use an audio cable to connect the tape player to your PC sound card's line in. Send me an email if you have more questions. I can help you figure out, or I can probably do it for you.

D., I found instructions on how to do this at home with a cable that cost $10 or less. I'll hunt for them if you're interested. L.
