My daughter needs to lose 100lbs. She is 22. Does anyone recommend or discourage lap band surgery? Any suggestions/advice will be greatly appreciated.

My husband and I are actually going to a Lap Band Seminar in May. Methodist Willowbrook Hospital has monthly seminars that are free. At the seminar they do Glucose and Cholesterol Screenings. To make an appointment you can call ###-###-####. The Methodist Hospital(downtown) also has monthly seminars. Also if you have the TLC Channel there is a show called BIG MEDICINE it comes on every Wednesday Night at 9:00pm. Dr. Garth Davis and Dr. Robert Davis specialize in Gastric Bypass and Lap Band Surgeries. They work out of The Methodist Hospital.

Though I'm a bit older (wink), I did go to the consultation for Dr. Richard Collier. Had it not been for my insurance not covering the procedure (my BMI was just a bit below what they cover, even though I was 95 pounds overweight), I would have gone ahead with it. That and I found out I was pregnant 4 months later...
He works with the Journeylite group off the 45, and the research I had done about him before hand made me feel real comfortable with him and his group.
My husband was considering that - he needs to lose about 150. All the doctors that I called have a consultation available to answer all your questions. My understanding is that it is much safer than gastric bypass and the band can be adjusted as needed. My husband decided to try Nutri/System before doing a medical procedure and after 3 weeks he has lost about 25 pounds. I would suggest go to the consultation and learn all about it and they will answer all your questions. I know one of the places here in Houston has many of their former clients working as their staff, which tells me they are very happy with the results.
