I am 33yoaf with a 3yo And 15 mo old. 2 months ago I started having more piing urges at night only. Sometimes it can be every 2 to 3 hrs through the night. Seemed sudden onset. Often it wakes me up. I consider myself healthy and fit and am annoyed with the piing because it disturbs my sleep. Any thoughts as to what it is, if it Will go away on its own, common thing that is normal,
any treatments. I'm seeing my ob next wk but would like first hand on others experience and prepare myself for questions at dr visit. Thank you.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'd have to say, I don't have a UTI b/c I tested negative a month ago. I am definitely not pregnant even though it's like peeing as often as when I was pregnant at night. No pelvic pain, but possible bloating or maybe it's postbaby pudge and hopeful wishing that my stomach will be back to prebirth one day?:)..yes I did think of cancer but hope not and believe it's weak stomach like others are saying but will talk to OB. I did do a little kegel, but should do alot more to see if it helps. Cranberry juice seem to help a little, and I do avoid drinking later. Thankyou all for your reassurances and sharing your experience!

After having 2 kids the same thing was happening to me. Are you drinking a lot before going to bed, I had to pay attention to how much I was drinking before bedtime. I also had the problem of having to go frequently throughout the day. My ob told me to try holding it rather than running to the bathroom immediately, that this would help re-strengthen the bladder muscles. Kiegal exercises are also supposed to be good.

Yes, me too! I only have on child, she's 3 now, I had her when I was 38. It really started to get bad about a year after I had her, I was up many times in the night to pee. I was a side sleeper and had to re-train myself to sleep on my back, because I noticed that the slightest amount of urine in my bladder was being pressed on when I was on my side, but I didn't feel it when I was on my back. So, now that I sleep on my back and do my Kegels (they do work!), I sleep great again!

I really do think that OB Dr's should prepare women, to try and avoid this by prescribing Kegels BEFORE birth. Think about it, if your pelvic floor is nice and strong before having the baby, then mom wouldn't have so many of these problems afterwards. IMO!! :)

Totally don't want to freak you out, but it could be a sign of many things - impending bladder infection, ovarian cancer (if it comes with bloating and pelvic pain), collapsed bladder or maybe it just means that you need to do more pelvic floor exercises or maybe it's nothing at all. I've gotten totally fit after my babies, too, but I never think to do kegels... Also, could just be the way it is... I go a couple of times at night and more leading up to my period... Anyway, tell your ob about it!

H., I had the exact same problem as you. Not only did I get up to pee alot but sometimes when I sneezed or coughed I would tinkle on myself. My OBGYN informed me that sometimes our bladders tend to droop after multiple pregnancies. Sure enough mine had. I had an outpatient procedure where he tacks your bladder up. I did not feel a thing and I have not had any problems since. Good luck

Try AZO, it's an over the counter med for UTI relief. If you are still having frequent urges to pee after a couple of days, go see the doc because you might need an antibiotic.
Anxiety can also cause this. If you are stressed out the tension will sometimes attack your bladder and make you feel like peeing more.
Dont drink anything or eat anything juicy after 6 pm.

Yes ever since having my first child I get up once or twice every night. It's normal. Be glad you can still run, laugh and hold your urine.

Another possibility:
Sleep Apnea... can sometimes cause frequent urination at night.
(I read this in a health magazine).

Because the oxygen levels, are not on par and lower.
Thus, the body has to work harder, to get more oxygen into the system/brain/heart.
Lack of oxygen also causes pressure on the heart.

Or, increased pressure on the heart, can also be due to increase liquids in the body.
Or, water retention, per PMS, can do this too.
For example: before I get my period, I get more bloated/water retention, and I pee more at night. Then once I get my period, it stops.

Anyway, here is the link on Sleep Apnea per urination at night:
http://www.sleepapnea.org/resources/pubs/noct.html

And often, after we have kids, Moms do not sleep well.
