Any GREAT Pediatric Dentists in Portland?

My son (almost 6) needs to have one of his baby teeth pulled. I'm not really excited about bringing him in for this procedure, and would feel more comfortable if others had feedback about any pediatric dentists around Portland. (Willing to travel for someone exceptional). Who provides great service in this area? I don't want my son to have a fear of going to the dentist after this procedure.

Thanks!
M.

We also see Dr. Wilson and Dr. Shawn and LOVE them. Both of my boys had to have two cavities filled and both came out of the experience totally untraumatized!! I think they might have even enjoyed it... :)

My daughters see Dr. Shebani. They love her! She is exceptional. Has won many awards, including top 100 pediatric dentists. My youngest daughter (age 7) just had to have two teeth pulled do to crowding. Our experience was AMAZING! We had the option of laughing gas, and we did choose to have her use it. While my daughter's teeth were being pulled, she had goggles on, that was actually a movie. She got to pick out the movie from a collection of about 100. Plus, they gave her 3 popsicles. One before, after and during. Whenever she wanted a lick, she would raise her hand and the dentist would stop so she could take a lick. Plus, when she was in the chair, waiting for the dentist (for under 5 minutes) a magician came in and entertained her. When she was done, they sent her home with toys that she got to pick out from the walk in toy closet and another popsicle. My daughter had no pain during or after.

I'm going to second Darlene's vote below. My kids are 11 & 8. We've been seeing Karole Wilson since my son was a year old, and now like seeing Dr. Shawn as well. She joined Dr. Wilson a couple of years ago. Both of my kids look forward to going there. They've actually said that they wished they could go more than 2x per year.

And it's not that we haven't had dental issues. My son nearly knocked his front tooth out at 2.5YO. At age 5, he said it was hurting and wanted to go see Dr. Wilson. Long story short, he'd just been in for a cleaning and was looking to go 'visit' again. He didn't have to have that tooth pulled but later had a few cavities filled.

I've refereed many people to Dr. Wilson. Never had anyone not love the office.

Dr. Eric Downey at Murrayhill (Beaverton) and Amberglen (Hillsboro) is awesome! I have 4 different friends that take their kids to him, and they LOVE him, parents and kids both. The daughter of one of my friends just lost her first tooth, and was begging her mom to go see Dr. Downey because she was so excited. My son isn't old enough yet, but I will definitely be taking him to Dr. Downey when he is. Dr. Downey is also highly respected in the pediatric dental community, and has many professional achievements. Good luck!

I take my twin boys to http://www.sunnysidedentistryforchildren.com/. They are just up the road from Clackamas Town Center. I have to tell you that I have only taken my boys there one time because its was their first visit. But I thought they did great. But, my friend has a daughter that is 12 and they have gone there for about 4yrs. Her daughter loves it. Her daughter was at a different office and used to cry every time and since coming to this place they haven't had any problems. Good Luck!!!

Love Dr. Karole Wilson and Dr. Jen Shawn, here's thier website. http://www.drkarolewilson.com/
Neither child has any trouble going to the dentist - ages 3 and 5. They actually like going there.
I know someone who drives from Oregon City to them because they like Dr. Shawn so much.

Dr. Stafford at World of Smiles (www.visitworldofsmiles.com) is great. My good friend's anxiety-prone 5-year old needed a couple of teeth pulled, and it went off quickly and without a hitch.

Check out her website...I highly recommend her!
