Hello! I am hoping you guys will help me and my hubby come up with some fun ideas for us on our anniversary! We will be celebrating 16 years next week, and are planning a dinner out, but are hoping to find something else to do too. We are not drinkers at all, so bars aren't our thing. The only other idea we've had is the movies, and while we don't get out to see movies much (with 4 kiddos at home) we are hoping for something a little extra unique and special. Would love to hear other ideas of fun stuff you've done to celebrate. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

Depending on what's available where you live, how about a boat ride, carriage ride, hot air balloon ride, mystery theatre?

we did a casino night, followed by a stay in a historic "haunted" hotel.....for our 20th. It was a gift from my mom, sis, & dad.

No ghosts, but lots of bumps in the night.....we could hear the neighbor's bed banging against the wall! We had a BLAST the next morning....trying to figure out who had the room next to us! I mean, seriously, we sat in the dining room & just watched everybody.....we are soooo twisted!

I say rekindle your youth. Play lasar tag, miniture golf, or go bowling. Find something you used to do that you loved when you first met and go have fun. It can be something that you would normally do with the kids but when you do it alone it takes on a whole nother personality.

My daughter just babysat for a couple last night. They left just after lunch yesterday, I don't know their whole plan but the went to see Blue Man Group here in Dallas and then had dinner and drinks afterwards. The got home around 10pm.

The state fair just started here and it is huge and lots of good events going on during the month.

We enjoy sporting events, concerts, the horse races, etc.

Can kiddos have a weekend with the grandparents and you have the house to yourselves?? Could be fun!

Whatever you choose, have fun and Congratulations!!

I'm not sure of your interests, but what about bowling, putt putt (indoors maybe), taking a moonlit walk, going to a museum or a show, snuggling under the stars? I'm sure that you will find something fun to do to celebrate your anniversary!!! Congrats on 16 years!!!

We got a 1hr private ballroom dance lesson for our 16th. We had taken a class before we got married and hadn't since so the class a lot of fun. Now my husband thought this was a lot of fun but not all guys might be up for that.

we went canoeing a couple years back and I keep wanting to go again.. it was SO nice! Just the two of us in a canoe.. almost forgot the girls were in one behind us LOL

I would like to go to VEGAS (we don't gamble drink or smoke) we hear it is a cheap get a way... the casinos are cheap to stay at cause they think they will get your money when you gamble! lol

We went to a waterpark w/o the kids and it was really fun!

Maybe go get lost in a corn maze :D

Other than the movies, what did you do when you were dating? Miniature golf? Bowling? Just take a drive?

Beef and Boards is a dinner show, (it is a dressy affair). Followed by a night at the Embassy Suites Indianapolis - North.

There's a lot of neat restaurants in downtown Indianapolis and the hotels there are really nice. I've always thought a horse and buggy ride around downtown Indy would be really romantic. If you want to go farther away from home, Louisville has some really nice areas in the downtown area.

Madison Indiana has Clifty Falls State Park which is really neat if you like to hike.

I wouls search for your local entertainment parks and see if they have a nightly hay rack ride or haunted woods ride. We just went to the Zoo who has nighttime walks through the botanical gardens..really pretty things.
If you are not into that, I would look into doing some outdoor venues that maybe have bands playing outside.
you can always lookin on ticket master and see if there are any concerts or shows to go to. The fall is such a great time for outdoor activities.
Good luck.

I am super corny, and like getting my hubby out of his comfort zone. Two years ago, for our 12th, I scheduled a mani / pedi for each of us at the same time, and then we did dinner. It was fun to be a bit pampered together and chat while it was happening. If you want to spend a bit more, you can do a couples massage.
